Bay Area shop rental

Is there any place in the Bay Area that allows you to rent out their equipment/shop space, such as a lift and air tools in their shop, for an hourly rate? I thought I remember reading about a business that offered this to allow poeple to install their own parts, but I can't seem to find it now. I want to replace the clutch in my 2002 WRX, but the job seems like a large hassle without a lift and proper equipment. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks.

Also, if anyone has ever done a clutch install and wouldn't mind helping me out this weekend or some other time I would be happy to buy food/drinks/etc. for the time.

I can't speak for others but there would be no legimate way a business could do this, as the liabilty insurance would not be covered...legally all employess must be on the insurance policy and must be designated as to what there roll is with the company and likewise workers comp would not allow this either.

I can only speak for what is legal, not sure what others can/can't do.

*if something happened, not only would the business be scr*wed but they would open themself up to a law suit...its illegal to operate w/o proper insurance or desiganted employees covered on said policy.

UNLESS they have some crazy coverage policy that allows it. I know there was a place in san jose but they closed up and if I remember correctly it was do to insurance issues....no business like our shop could do that (but again I can't speak for others).

just my $0.02

^ it's just smart for shops to not let you work on your car likr you said. Something happens, the shop could close!

When I lived on NSB Bangor in WA state they had something like this for the military. Maybe look at nearby bases to see if they have something similar. The only problem would be you would probably have to be active duty to use it.

^^^ I have heard this before but like you said I think it only applies to active service personnel

Yeah, it was probably the place in San Jose that I was thinking about. Right now I'm not even sure if it's my clutch that's the problem. When the clutch engages into first and second under low acceleration, there is shudder and it feels rough. When I downshift/accelerate at passing speeds however, the clutch grabs fine. Any ideas on what could be the issue?
