bay area repair shops?

Today as I'm heading back to my house, I some weired noises coming from my car when I apply the brakes. I braked hard to see if it would go away, but instead my car suddenly just jerked to the right and wouldn't move anymore. I step outside and notice that my left wheel just kinda just snapped. I don't know how to explain it, but all I know is its still attached to the car, but I can't turn the wheel with my steering wheel. What should I do? I've never had any serious damage to the car. Should I take it to a Subaru dealership to have it repaired or should I go elsewhere? I just want to make sure that if it is fixed, it is fixed correctly and is done right the first time. Any suggestions? TIA

Pics would really help here, sounds more like a suspension/powertrain problem from your description....if your car is stock or close to stock tow you car to the nearest subaru dealer. that would be best if you are within warranty mileage (under 60k usually unless you have extended)

A location other than "Location : Location :" would help.

I'd recommend going to your local specialist (LIC Motorsports, AutoHQ, GST Motorsports, SpeedElement, etc.) and get the job done right, and right the first time.

Anybody know whats seems to be the problem? Which is the closest quality shop I should go to? How much does it look like its gonna cost? As for towing, to the shop, should I get a flat bed? At this point the front wheels will not move, so wouldn't that damage the transmission by trying to pull it onto the flat bad? I've never been in this position before and I'm just so overwhelmed.
I'd really really appreciate any help or advice from you guys.

Hey. I am hella bored. Mind if I come by and take a look? I might be able to give you my two cents.

I think it is the diff you are worried about. I think the main thing is that it'll do major damage if you move it long distances, but onto a flatbed, probably not.

You shouldn't be. S*** happens. That's half the fun. I'll be by in like 10 minutes to check it out. I literally live around the corner. Haha.

Just ran by. I think it's the control arm. Like... that thing split in two. Also, your front endlink is gone.

GST or SpeedElement. Just find out who can take you in first after telling them your problem. Either one of them will bail you out.

Holy Carp!!

That's one broken control arm FTL!!

1. Flatbed it.
2. Take it locally (SpeedElement/GST Motorsports)
3. Replace with aluminum control arms (STi)!!

thanks to darkonion, Imprezzy, and Roo for your advice. I gave SpeedElement a call but they're but they're busy until the 25th. I'll gave GST a call, but they're a little busy.

How much do you think this repair will run me? Any ballpark estimate would be helpful. Thanks again.

I looked the part up online, and according to the site, the control arm is $180ish. I think it'll take about hour, hour and a half, but I wouldn't know since I've never done it before. You should consider Roo advice and think about the STi aluminum control arms. Probably won't be much more expensive than the regular ones.
