bay area heads please chime in RE: exhaust tickets

Just got an 04 wrx wagon all stock. looking to go catless tbe.
im 29, i drive like an adult. ive owned a turbo del sol for the last 3 yrs catless with resonators, and never got pulled over.

so the question goes :
are wagons less likely to get pulled over for modified exhausts than sedans?

Not particularly. Cops know what a WRX is, wagon or sedan. It's all gonna depend on the style your car displays towards them. For example, I have 5% tint all the way around but black painted exhaust (catless), roof racks and 45 profile tires. If you're worried about catless or catted, either way if a cop knows what they're talking about you're gonna get written up, unless its a rare CARB legal downpipe.

Back to subject, it also depends on the area you live in, I see SJ in your Location. I dunno. Iffy, Failure on this board lives near state has a legacy and he kept his stock catback on. It's really up to you.

im just curious because kids, with their fart cans ruin it for the honda community. exhaust tix, hoods popped.

the way u drive and how u look has alot to do with it, but does law enforcement actively target subaru owners like honda owners?

i got pulled over with a apexi gt spec catless before, state reffed ticket for that.

edit:
actually i got pulled over multiple times driving my wagon. got ticket all the time for no reason, they once gave me a following too close ticket instead of a modified exhaust ticket.

I ran an open cutout on my subie for like 5 months and it was never closed. never got pulled over once and it was way louder than any TBE setup. As long as you dont drive like a moron and give cops reasons to pull you over, you should be okay!

It really comes down to luck. San Jose isnt as bad with cops on stuff like that(from my personal experience). But Milpitas and Campbell are HORRIBLE when it comes to mods.

I have loud exhaust and have never gotten a ticket for it. I got pulled over for a broken windshield and the cop said "that exhaust is pretty loud. You know that is a ticketable offence." I replied "ya I know but I keep the rpms low in neighborhoods." So he did not write me a ticket for it? Or he just did not care IDK. Also got out of the windshield ticket because I had an email confirmation to get it fixed the next day sitting on my passenger seat.

So as to your question. I think it is different cop to cop.

i deffinately think its up to the cops descretion. Ive had my hood popped many times and was told that i could be cited for everything but because i have a clean record they end up letting me go
