BAM Helper Thread 2.0! All Please Read! LOTS OF Volunteers still needed!

Hey Everyone, so here's the deal, I've basically copy/pasted over volunteers from the last thread and updated with everyone who has expressed an interest in volunteering.

If you're on the list, please post that you're still interested in helping. Once you post in this thread I will underline your name in the list, all underlined names will be confirmed. You'll also notice that I increased the numbers of volunteers under each category, I basically just want to make sure we have the bodies we need and making sure that there's more than enough help when we need it. Even if a category is technically "Full" don't be afraid to sign up to help, we never know when we'll need more help.

Please let me know if you cannot help and are currently signed up. If you have any questions about volunteering at the event, please PM me. I'll be handling volunteer organization in an attempt to keep brucelee from losing any more of his mind than he's already lost.

Note Updated 8/1 at 11:00am. Please note if you've confirmed but I've neglected to underline your name.

A)Parking attendants:
I need people to get to the meet before the caravans arrive. You will direct parking or organize the cars by make, so the GC's all in one are, pig nose in the other, etc. You will also be in charge of making sure that the vendor and car show areas are secured so no one but the vendors/car show people can enter. I will give you a sheet that shows how many cars each vendor gets to park in the VIP area. If you are interested in helping with this please plan on arriving before 10:30am.

B)Cooks:
Since we're BBQing we're going to need quite a few people to man the grills. Each person will cool for a MAXIMUM of 1 hour, I want the cooks to switch to the next person in like as soon as they feel even the slightest fatigue. Your duty is GREATLY appreciated! I've been there and manned that grill for a good 4 hours one year and it was tough! Others have done it even longer then I have! We need you guys!

C)Happy fun ball enjoyment crew:
I need folks to bring some items that can be used for entertainment at the event. Anywhere from a football, soccer ball, to a whole volley ball net/ball. You're not limited to those items, be creative and bring ANYTHING that you think people may enjoy... Water Balloons? Super soakers? Krinkov (Jeremy) has been appointed as the event coordinator, he has some tricks up his sleeve and is going to bring some cool items, so if you need to ask anyone about something you want done at the event, please ask Krinkov! If you agree to bring a football (or whatever), your name will be placed below with the item you signed up for next to your name. That means you are officially signed up to bring that said item! Don't sign up unless you are serious!

D)Setup/Unloading:
I need a crew of people that can show up quite a bit early to help set things up (tents, sun shades) as well as unload two truck fulls of food and drinks. You need to show up an hour and a half before the first caravan arrives. If you are interested in helping us please be prepared to arrive before 10:00am.

E)Ice monkeys:
As you all know, every year its hot as hell and we don't have refrigerators up there, which means that we need a ton of ice. I need some folks to sign up for "ice duty". That means that you can arrive at whatever time, could be early, could be on time, could even be late, and you need to bring $10 worth of ice.

F)Videographers:
I need a few people to take digital video footage of the event. I want to get as much footage as possible so that we can make a really kick *** video after! Anywhere to the cars in the parking lot, to people grilling, and of the girls voting for the cook off results! If you're not familiar with video I will send you a PM with some basic tips for good shooting. I will need the footage after the meet is done (you can burn it or whatever and give me a disc)

G)After party clean up:
Like the title says, we need a group of responsible people who are willing to stay after the festival and clean up what the slobs left. We pretty much destroy Mt Hamilton and its really embarrassing and a damn shame. Lets not be those people, and if we want to come back we need to keep it clean. The more the merrier.

This role is for those prepared to perform blatantly self sacrificing tasks for the good of the meet. Paul already contributed his part.

I'm assuming that means you're confirming for setup and Ice so I underlined your name in both places, please let me know if that's an incorrect assumption.

EDIT: HURRRRRRR I had you in the right section but just typed the wrong one in this reply. Oops, fixed :E

I'll give you the choice of smartass replies:

1. "Wear gloves."

or

2. "That's not what your boyfriend says".

Thanks for posting this!

However, please remove my name from the list. I will no longer be able to help as I have made other commitments for that weekend. I do not know how other members feel, but considering the absolute lack of consistent communication regarding this part of the event and general ignorance by the organizer of all the people and their good intentions to assist just could not be ignored by me. I was not going to take a chance blocking off whatever little free weekend time I get and foregoing other plans in hopes that this particular commitment would pant out.

That being said, I hope the event has a good turn out and good luck to everyone else.

/rant

Not even a 'stay tuned' or 'there are a lot of moving piece please excuse the silence'

Part of my job involves managing people and events...and if I asked so many people for help, got so many responses, and 1 week prior to the event still have done pretty much did nothing with that information I would have gotten me fired long time ago...

I have no idea...I can't read minds.

Seeing that your a professional organizer, maybe you're taking this a little too seriously?
We're all just getting together for fun, food, and for a lucky few, fornicatin'.

I mean, all the Mt Hammy meets that I've attended have all seemed a little "seat of the pants" in the organization dept.

Paul, I am still working on my mind reading skills as well...

Are you saying it is okay to not take people's time and offer to help seriously...or not maintain proper communication about crucial part of the event?

I am all for having "seat of the pants" fun, but forgive me for expecting basic professionalism and common courtesy for volunteers who want to make this event possible, many of who would need to be there couple hours before and after hand.

Anyway, I will refrain from saying anything more as I do not want to thread jack.
