BAIC Photographers; trip up towards Lick Observatory tonight?
Any photographers (I'm thinking a small group that can fit in one impreza) want to take a trip up towards the Lick Observatory to get some shots of the meteor shower? All you need is a camera that can do long exposures and a tripod.
The prime time to watch/photograph will be starting around midnight.
looks like we're headed up Mt. Hammy
Those attending are...
1. Me
2. enkeiandmore
3. Mark
4. Mark's GF
5. Oh 4 Panda
6. Ave
When you get to Mt Hamilton Rd from Alum Rock there is a small dirt lot on the right side. We'll meet up there at 11:30 and drive up the mountain from there.
*UPDATE*
Pictures are in posts 84 and 100

Well the spot I was looking at in Monterey is supposed to be fogged in (theres a shocker!) so I guess trying Mt Hammy despite the haze is better than nothing.
Dorifto posted the general directions: "just exit alumn rock and turn towards the hills, then tun on mt Hamilton rd."
I was not planning on going all the way TO the observatory because people will be working there tonight and the slightest bit of extra light is not good for their equipment. My plan was/is to go up far enough that you can't see the city lights and stop at one of the dirt turnouts that are lower down on the mountain. One car is ideal for this because it is a pretty tight road and the dirt turnouts are not exactly the size of a parking lot.
We could also take a small roadtrip down towards gilroy/morgan hill since there is less light pollution and maybe less air pollution too.
