Bah humbug
Anyone else hate christmas?
I mean seriously. I get so tired of the greed and the stress. I want this. They want this. Get this. Can't be this much. Spend money you don't have. What do you want. Oh can't get this you get this. Well I don't want this. But you can't say that because it'll bum someone else out. It's all B.S.
You know what I want... everyone to shut the **** up. Smile. Eat some damned cookies and have a good time hanging out with their families without having to worry about being broke or spending the next 12 months paying off christmas.
Seriously. I hate this ****.
Know what I want....
1. A day off with my family.
2. Pancakes for breakfast
3. Bacon
4. A big *** cup of coffee in my pajamas.
5. Watch the christmas story
6. Watch my kid open some presents and have a good time with my family.
That's about it. Really could give two ****s about how good a deal some **** I don't need is or how much money I need to spend on someone to feel like I'm doing enough. Hell I'm not even seeing you for christmas because you're not coming over for christmas.... why the hell should I feel bad for not spending $50 on a present.
Grrrrrrrr.
Man... Thanksgiving is so much better. So simple. Day off. Football. Eat like pigs. Hang out with your family. Drink a couple beers. That's friggin it.

More like New Years for Japanese people, drink till you pass out and eat good food
My family has made our Xmas into just a gathering and traditions. Ever since I was about 12 I stopped caring about gifts. Wouldn't give people Xmas lists because I felt like I didn't need anything.
I'm right there with ya!

Yeah the problem is that my family used to have HUGE xmas presents. Talking lap tops, mixers, snowboards, etc. So "some people" are used to it and expect it. My folks have been scaling back but it's still a big deal. We end up feeling like crap because it's like... what the hell can we get the folks or so and so and not go broke. I hate that feeling and I hate that other folks may be feeling that about us. I'd rather get nothing and just have a dope meal and hang out.

I haven't bothered with any major holiday in ages...too commercilized, self-serving
I tend to stay at home or be somewhere as FAR AWAY from people as possible during these periods
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Memorial Day, and such seem to be token "do sh*t periods" to me...people all of the sudden decide to do something or go somewhere they had no interest in the other 364 days of year and won't for another once finished. Memorial Day?...camping! Thanksgiving?...travel! Christmas?...charity! What makes Christmas any more of a reason to spend quality time with my family than middle of April?
I haven't bought a physical gift in quite a while. Everyone can drop a credit card at the store...instead I go for a memorable activities or experiences. Yet you would be surprised how many, lets say girls for example, said "why are we going here and doing this (happened with me when I planned a sunset air ballon ride in the wine country)? You couldn't have just bought [insert overpriced item]"...yeah those lasted long.
There is nothing I am missing during these periods that I don't do plenty the rest of the year...or may be I am just old and bitter

Bah humbug is right! Wish my family could forget (I hate using this word) "drama" for the holidays. Seems all they want to do is ***** about eachother. I wind up drinking with my grandmother in the corner, she is 94. She gets off easy because she can't hear!
It is nice to see all the family together but its such a ***** fest it can be unpleasant.

My wife keeps asking me what I want for Christmas. Honestly nothing. I've got enough and I keep stressing about how much other things are costing with it being the end of the month and having just paid the Mortgage and Car Payment. But I know she'll feel bad cause she bought herself a coach purse that granted was on ridiculous sale, but she'll still feel bad.

I generally don't trip or get mad. The thing that sucks is what follows is my Dad's B-Day, my parents Anniversary the next day, I was born on their 3rd Anniversary.
So yeah, people's stupid attitudes aside, we're boned b/c:
A. Everyone's either already spent their money on themselves or their family/loved-one's.
B. Is out of town.
C. Is already putting money away for taxes in 3 months.
D. Didn't get their bonus and can't afford to buy something nice even though they get the nicest **** on their B-Day in May-Oct.
*It's not about the gifts though, it's about the reason for the season.
Greedy Retailers and Investors are the one's screwing it all up.
