cliff notes,
people are trying to pass a bill to fund major road construction/upgrades
one of the ideas passed along is a Patterson to San Jose highway,
I-5 to 130,
the idea has been in the works for a while,
one of my old prof's was a manager for the CA Department of Transportation,
and they were trying to push for another metro system, ala bart,
for the patterson to san jose area,
for some reason, they refuse to expand the 205 to 580 leg more than a few roads
anybody in the valley going to the bay knows why this doesn't really make sense to me,
but it looks like the californian politicians are pushing for a new highway going up the eastern side of mt. hamilton,
possibly replacing Mines Road completely.
chances are that it'll prolly parallel Mines as 580 parallels Patterson Pass and Corral Hollow, especially when the going gets tough higher in elevation you get to the summit.
but the dismal traffic is going to increase one way or another if it does happen.
what i think is more practical is having another Bart branch or something compared to building another 4 lane highway up in the middle of nowhere, especially somewhere that we really like
