This is kind of over due but but I figure everyone likes an interesting story.
Summary:
-No one was hurt
-My WRX was crashed by my friend
-The same friend went to jail for a DUI and resisting arrest
-I'm replacing the WRX with an ISF or C63
Story Time (i'll try and shorten it):
Well it all started with me driving over to my good friend Kevins apartment and we took the light-rail downtown and met up with a bunch of our friends. After a few hours Kevin ended up taking a cab back early but I stayed back and I am not going to lie, I had quite a bit to drink that night. I ended up taking a cab back to Kevins apartment and he was sitting there playing COD and he asked me if he can take my car to the grocery store which was four blocks down the road and I said "sure" (He doesn't have a car because his super-reliable Audi S4 is in the shop). But I asked him if he was okay to drive and he said "yeah, I'm all good" so I gave him my keys in full trust. I took a nap on his couch and after 3 missed phone calls from him I find out he crashed my car in the apartment complex parking lot. He ended up going store and came back and he saw our group of friends and then decided to be Ken Block and put it into a wall at 45mph. There was a passenger in the car with him and he was fine as well, the airbags didn't deploy which surprised me. Since this happened in the apartment complex parking lot someone called in the crash and about a minute after I got downstairs a police officer shows up on a motorcycle and asks they typical "what's going on guys?". He then separated us and talked to Kevin first and asks him for his license and then asks him if he's had anything to drink and he then asks how much and thats when Kevin bolts and runs into the complex. At this point I am beyond confused because I was sure he didn't drink that much and he left early from the bars. After running around for a few minutes he gets tasered a couple times and the officer finally gets him on the ground. It was like I was watching an episode of cops. After the officer called in for back up police cars just started pouring in, I counted 8 police cars and 1 ambulance. I was surprised about the response time until I found out that the police station was 5 buildings down the road lol. So I am standing there in shock still trying to put everything together but from what I gathered he ended up heading back early to go to a friends birthday party and I could only guess he drank more there. I think even if he was sober he would have still crashed my car. Lesson learned, I am not going to let anyone drive my car anymore regardless of what they say. It's a bummer being that I was responsible in this situation and I was counting on my friend to be responsible as well. It sucks to see my car go down like it did, it was young and had less than 32k miles on it. Like I said thankfully no one was hurt and I am glad my insurance isn't affected. I will say AAA compensated me with a nice $33k check to go spend on another car.
Funny story, Kevins father is a VERY well known officer in LA amongst the Japanese-American community (apparently he he is like a god when he's in J-Town).
I was pretty surprised my vinyl wrap job stayed intact and the hood didn't crack or shatter.
Well I have been driving around in a lot cars the past few weeks including a STi, EvoX, e90 M3, S5, Quattroporte, CTS-V, ISF and a C63. I miss driving a stick but messing around with these DCT paddle shifters is something amazing especially for a DD. I love to stick with a Subaru but I hit a point where I am bored with it for now and need a different project. And since I started working in the corporate world and I felt silly showing up in my Subaru mainly because it's loud and uncomfortable. Though I really do miss my Subaru! The M3s are great cars but they aren't very good DDs and I know I will ruin the car in heartbeat by supercharging it and going with coilovers and polyurethane bushings. The C63 is HORRIBLE with mpg but it does drive fantastically and the same goes with the ISF except it's mpg will be more like my WRX which is tolerable. The fact the ISF has a limited selection of aftermarket parts it'll keep me out of trouble..for a bit.
Luckily I put the car back to stage 2 before I left for Arizona.

So sorry to hear about your car but i'm glad everyone was okay. Do the IS-F over the others it's an amazing daily driver minus the mpg. Toyota reliability!

Just don't try to run WRX's/STi's on E85 especially with the limited after market support on those cars. No tuning
. ECU is pretty good at adjusting for headers/intake/exhaust without one hiccup.

I talked to the collision shop and they said he went at such an angle the force didn't trigger it, he was going on about the crashbar and how it got pushed to the side and for some reason that was why the airbags didn't deploy.
Thanks Rob, yeah the only tuning I have seen is with piggybacks but that only gets you so far. But honestly I don't need a tune it's a daily, I can crank out 100whp with the h/i/e and like you said the ECU is self learning, but to a certain extent. I am well aware that there are some fast cars out there
And you're right I want to keep the reliability, the better mpg and the maintenance costs down which is where the ISF thrives above the others. In a few years I do plan on getting another car to mess around with. Did you own that ISF?
Yep, former. I don't need to be around him and he's got his own stuff to deal with now.

i say e92 m3/corvette/911. why bother with an isf or an e90 unless you are expecting a family?

That absolutely sucks, he's gonna be in alot of **** for a long time.
Hope the insurance company pays out. On the bright side, you will be grinning from ear to ear when you pick up your new car
Best of luck!
