bad head gasket..water in the short block..pics

I blew a head gasket.. Lots of water got into cylinder 2 and 4. By the time i got around to tearing down the long block the water had been in there for about a week or 2. Now the cylinder walls/piston have a Orange tint to it.. is this OK? i don't want to get new head gaskets and my block F up on me because the rings got rusty or something.. thanks!

That looks pretty nasty. I personally wouldn't run that without cleaning up the pistons, possibly putting a new hone on the cylinders and re-ringing.

I'm sure some people would just run it and hope for the best though .

Thanks

You have it so far apart it would be a shame not to rehone and do new rings maybe even throw some forged pistons in it if you can afford them.

Most of that crap will get knocked off but it's not the best thing in the world to have floating around in your motor. Since it's torn down already... might as well rebuild it right.

damn.. i really didn't want to have to split the block and buy new rings/head studs/head gaskets/hone/ect. and go through 1000 mile break in before i can get a tune.. I'm so tempted to clean it real good and hope for the best. knowing my luck it would f up and i would have to do it anyways
