Background of various tuners in bay area

What kind of background do various tuners have?

One criticism the Japanese seem to have of US tuners is that they are mechanics who lack real understanding and learn tuning based on experience. It would seem though that some tuners do have technical backgrounds. I was curious (if anyone knows) as to what the backgrounds are?

I think maybe you should do a search for threads about people' s experience with different tuners. Look at the threads from Gruppe-S, S^2, or Vishnu.
Read the charts. Call them up and ask questions.
I think that's the best approach.
Also, you may want to check their forums.

I have experience with most of these tuners, I am not asking about their effectiveness because I already know.

For actual tuner effectiveness, I think people who can read dyno charts well and looked over results from the various tuners already have their own answer and there's just no point in discussing crap like that. People obviously have allegiances, so it's a moot point.

Ed took a huge flaming boot in the **** from the group of people who ardently defend a certain tuner, but he has developed quite a following in the south bay/santa Cruz area and is doing very well Only the years will tell, I'll leave it at that.

IIRC, Ed's a computer science student (or maybe a graduate now). I think he's done his best to make that clear to everyone, so maybe it isn't even an issue with Ed at EQ. He obviously has the tech background that would garner Japanese tuning respect.

Its probably best to let the tuners answer for themselves if they wish. Though, I really don't know what purpose calling out Shiv and Nate will really gain anyone.

yea, but what I don't get is why before he was saying "Ed Vaus is a computer science student, then he takes that out, yet he still leaves "Mike Warfield has electronics backround working for kenwood"

I don't understand what you are trying to accomplish with this post...if you want it to be 1 sided, keep it the way it is, if you want it to be inpartial, then remove all names and just ask your question.
