Thumbs up Back in a Subaru

Well the wife and I went ahead and got ourselves a new Subaru, it wasn't the STI that I was wanting. We had to go with practicality while I go to Grad school and she finishes residency... :-/

2013 Subaru Crosstrek XV - CVT -limited
Everything except the navi and roof.
DGM, black interior.

Anyhow, here she is:

"Ta Dah!!"

Looks great! I want to trade my FJ for a Crosstrek sometimes. And then I load 1000 lbs of crap in the back and remind myself why I can't.

How do you like it so far?

Excellent. It is a great size for a little car, the seats are decent. Not terribly noisy despite just being an econobox.
The little 2.0L is actually not bad, our other econo car is her 2001 honda civic. I would say this is a bit faster than that. (Not saying much really)
The CVT takes a little getting used to, accelerating is just odd with the RPMs stuck at one point.
I can't rate the economy yet as I only have 204 miles on it. According to the dash meter I am averaging 24mpg, but that is primarily around town commuting. I am hoping that improves a bit as it breaks in and as I start commuting on the freeway with it. As long as the mileage is close to advertised I will be happy. I had no problem getting better than EPA estimates for both my WRX and LGT, so I am hoping this won't be any different.

Certainly has to be better than my 1997 Dodge Ram CC 4x4Diesel (For Sale!) :-P

Awesome. I'd imagine the cvt would be pretty different! 24mpg around town is not too shabby. Damn FJ gets 16-19 haha! Any plans to tow or anything with the Crosstrek?

Reports have been saying the mileage isn't so great so I don't know how much that will improve, and also that owners are saying power is lacking on these cars, but it isn't a performance car so I don't see why that would be an issue? If they wanted power, this was probably not the right car. My daugther's sister in-law just bought one and I liked it though, but for being basically the same size as my Forester, it has less space in the cargo area but about the same space as my WRX had. Looks good in that DGM color.

I'm curious to see what kind of mileage the Hybrid gets now. Claimed is 33/25.

No towing of any sort planned for it. I have a big dodge diesel for now....but that is probably going away. But even so, if I need to tow anything I'll go rent a truck until I buy my next truck.

I reset the meter and after driving another couple hundred miles I am now averaging 31mpg with mixed driving.
I had never reset the meter initially when I picked it up, and it takes into account idling time, and who knows how much the dealer had let it idle every day to ensure the battery stayed charged or who knows what was done in the first 14 miles before I got it? lol.
