Awesome Jeremy Clarkson World War II docs
Most of you know Clarkson from Top Gear, but he also did a couple of REALLY good documentaries. Most definitely worth watching - gets you motivated to make something of your life when you hear stories like this, and Clarkson is a really good storyteller.
"The Greatest Raid of All Time" I see it on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mgF0R4dhUqk
Wiki entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/St_Nazaire_Raid
Cliff notes: A small force of British commandos and navy personnel ram a ship into a German dry dock and detonate it to destroy the dock gates. They run around and blow stuff up. Then they find their rides home have been destroyed. They attempt to fight their way out of the docks into the town to escape and only about 10 percent of the commandos make it home.
And earlier Clarkson did a doc about the Victor Cross (British version of the Medal of Honor), which I can't find on youtube anymore but you can probably torrent somewhere. Based on the premise that his father-in-law was a VC and they didn't even know until he died, Clarkson traces the history of this decoration and tells stories of what it takes to get one, leading up to how his own father in law earned it.

War is sad and no good, but let's not let that detract from the unfathomable and selfless bravery "the greatest generation" possessed.

The Greatest Raid of All Time is an awesome documentary. Richard Hammond's "Time Watch: Bloody Omaha" is worth checking out too. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/3...maha-BBC2.html
