Aux recommendation on an 06?
I want to be able to play music from my iPhone to my car stereo but I have the 06 STI which doesn't have the Aux input...just wondering what you guys would recommend I do. And any good local audio shop recommendations? Not looking to do anything crazy, just not too familiar with car audio. FYI I'm in Redwood City
you could try and get the 07 stereo w aux box but you are paying a lot for the same crap deck. Maybe someone can advise a deck that looks good in the sti?
Another options are jazzyboards some guy from iwsti who makes a circuit board, you take your stereo and 4 bolts out and plug it in and splice a wire and boom aux in for like 50 bucks.

There are a lot of aftermarket options; as cheap as $70 to very expensive. I'm running a Pioneer AVH-P330BT. It's a Double-Din unit that has a USB Connecter, an AUX connecter, and an SD slot. Additionally, I can control my iPhone from the head unit and it has Bluetooth phone (but not streaming audio).
Here's what's available on crutchfield.

Also, since I have an 07, it has the built-in aux connector. I used this for a few years before I got my Pioneer and the USB is much better than the aux jack. And my wife's Forester has bluetooth streaming audio, which is awesome, since you don't need a cable, except it doesn't charge the phone. If charging is important to you, verify that the headunit's USB port will charge. My wife's car has USB port as well but it doesn't charge, which I think is kinda lame considering it's a 2014 model.
