70% chance of rain says NWS, and i'm going to stick to that. Rain doesn't look steady. It will be here and then it will go away, and then return. wind is 15mph from the east, so it shouldn't be too cold, but air moving like that can still feel chilly.
It would be great if someone (maybe some vendors) could supply a canopy for us subaru guys. We can stick it in a unused lot, and park the subies together, and now you have a dry area for us to hang out.
Remember to bring your waterproof/resistant jacket... and something to keep your head covered. It's going to be cold most likely.

Raining when i left the house, get to oakland, and it's stops... 10 mins later, the clouds are lifting, and we can see some blue sky...
it didn't rain at the colliseum at all... it rained all around it, but not there... so we in Run group 1 got to do it on wet pavement, and everyone after use got dry pavement...
bah!

Yeah, I know that you guys could have definitely used a 3rd run to make corrections to your 1st and 2nd run.
Maybe next time the event organizers will be there early enough to setup on time. I'd even be willing to drive out there early to help them. Do you know when they show up to the site?
Today, I got there with Soren & Maricel at 7:15, and they didn't start to cone the course until about 8am. I had registered, emptied the car, and just talked for a while... then I teched, and when i was teching they were coning the course. I think the first car to go out was like 9:15-30... It could have been much ealier.

What was the course designer thinking with that super long crossover? This was the same person that was the starter for run group 5 that was flagging us out before the previous driver had even cleared the crossover. This almost lead to a collision when I spun just before exiting the crossover. If it weren't for the top notch corner workers yelling at me and holding me in place I would'a pulled out just in time to get T-boned by Leo! Yikes! I was pretty thankful I came away with a 55.2 from my 1 clean run. Later on I saw an EVO spin ending up within a few feet of a light poll and trash can while scattering the corner workers. We're pretty lucky no one got hurt at this event.
This definately wasn't the ordinary SCCA event. I think its a miracle any voluteer event functions at all. Most events aren't perfect, but they're nothing like this one ended up. There was some mention that everyone who got hosed by thier FUBAR would recieve some kind of 'coupon' in the mail along with the results. I will believe it when I see it.

It did kinda suck that the Run Group 1 were already there before 7:30 but the first car didn't get sent out until 9:15. Besides straightlining some corners (chalk outline would have helped, but it was too wet), I had a blast. Can't wait till March 6th so I can improve on my times.
