Hopefully you do come out. I'll definitely be at that event.
A good solid choice for tires. However, if you want the best current street tire it's the Hankook R-S3s.

^ Pretty much the same as any other autox group. You don't need to be a member of anything. SFR SCCA requires being an SCCA member, or purchasing a weekend membership, because that's National SCCA rules.

Star Specs are awesome. I liked them better then my Falken Azenis RT-15 which are now defunct. I haven't tried the RS3s yet, but i've also heard great things. The Star Specs were great in the wet too, but they are pretty loud for daily driving in my opinion.

^ R-S3s don't grip as well as StarSpecs when cold, but once there's heat put into the tires the R-S3s outperform the StarSpecs. On a gravel surfaces they post competitive times with Hoosiers, according to my brother --> competitive in BSP.

I looked at the RS3, but I'd like to at least pretend to want the tires to last more than a season. I put a lot of miles on my car since it's my dd, so I got the Star Specs. There's also an $80 rebate on them, so they were pretty cheap.

You're probably right about the StarSpecs. That's why I have them.
