Autocross question (concerning classification)

:armee_smilies090: hey guys, i joined the scca with the free membership thing that came with my car. i've never done auto cross but i'm going to try and hit up the event on the 6th in oakland, but i have some questions

what does "run with their open classes but are scored separately" (for novice class) mean?

what class dose my car run in? mods are:
springs
rear sway w. endlinks
up
catted down
catback
17x8 wheels with 235/40/17 tires

i'm thinking street touring U right?

what time do i need to be there?
what do i need to bring?

"Street Touring - X

Same limitations as Street Touring - S, but generally allows cars up to 5 liters or 2 liters turbo- or supercharged, with Limited Slip Differential, and certain other extensions.

Street Touring - U

Same limitations as Street Touring - X, but generally allows cars of unlimited displacement , or up to 3.1 liters turbo- or supercharged, with unrestricted wheel width, tire width up to 275 (RWD) or 245 (AWD), ."
STS says wheels max is Xx7.5rims with 225 tires max... or is there some loop hole? but yea, they are fuzion zi-r or somethin.....

Let say you're on STX (novice class), you will run with the STX cars but since you're a novice, you will be scored separately. Like all Street Modified cars and Street Modified novice will run at the same time...but obviously, the novice will have a different score than the regulars.

Just did a screen capture from the rule book. Here is a direct link to the 2007 solo rule book, http://www.scca.org/_FileLibrary/File/2007SoloRules.pdf. STX is page 81.

I htink for first time we don't have to worry about points, i would just compare my time and PAX with other drivers and see where I stand. Are you going to be competitive and try to win a trophy? I was thikning about doing that in AStock but it's still $$ to compete with top set up's (even though it's "stock" class)

as long as you are at stock boost levels you'd be in stx. 06 and up wrx's are in stu due to their larger displacement engines. Come out Sunday should be a great day!
