I was thinking about something on the way to work today. We should do a co-drive program or something. Instead of each driving our own cars to an event, we make an effort to carpool and co-drive cars. Saves money on gas to and from events and stuff. From my place in Fremont to GGF is like 37 old miles or something. 37x2 is 74 miles. That's like... quarter tank. I could save some money by carpooling. Just a thought.

I never thought about that. Just avoiding spending $60+ for gas every week. Too expensive, but sure...

Kev, we are officially afraid

My co-driver, DG (dunc) is ready for his first win, he's had a class winning time twice but picked up cones each time.

Looking forward to tomorrow:RockOn - not mine:

Who else is coming out tomorrow? Potential photographers, most of us will be running 3rd run group. Chances are it'll start at no earlier than 11:30. Probably later if anything.

Nobody mentioned the $35 fee on top of the membership fee. And you only get 3 runs.

I'm sticking with the UFO events.

Sorry to hear that this was a surprise to you. I thought that this information was common knowledge.

For clarification:

Event Fee: $35
Temp Membership: $15

Superglue_WRX, I can see where you are coming from. Obviously, UFO prices are definitely more appealing, but here are some things to think about:

1. How many SF region sites do we have? Golden Gate Field, Marina, Monster Park, and Oakland. There were also Atwater, but that's a no go now. Not to mention that some of these sites are huge. The sad fact is that it takes a lot of money to rent a site. Got to break even right? Doesn't benefit anyone to have the region go bankrupt.

2. 200+ participants. 3 Laps each. You do the math. Kind of hard to do 4+ laps.

3. Why the temp. membership? Well... I am sure there are a lot of reasons. Someone has to pay for insurance. Insurance isn't cheap. Someone has to pay operating fees. Stuff like that. Like I said in 1. No one benefits from the region going bankrupt.

Well it's not like they listed $35 anywhere. All that's on the site is the membership fee. What would you think if no one told you how much it was?
