a friend of mine works at zazzle and i think the quality is way better than cafepress. cafepress items seem to always look like they are running out of ink when they print.. not so good printing jobs. Everything i have ordered from cafepress have looked faded.

That's cool to hear. The thing is when I did their custom t-shirt thing, I was looking at upwards of $17 per a shirt, which is a lot. I could go with a local t-shirt place and pay $13 each per a shirt. Yeah...

Depending on how many shirts you decide you need, I'd highly recommend my pops. His company does promotional products (ie imprinting, screenprinting, embroidery) on anything EVER (hats, pens, watches, even condoms).
They do some great stuff on American Apparel and Alternative Apparel T-shirts, which are the shizz. Basic T-shirts with multi-color imprints are hella cheaper than any of the prices listed in this thread (if you can break a 24 count minimum).
Downside is that it's in Virginia, but he has suppliers that work stuff in CA for him all the time. Lame website is here. PM me if you want his contact info.

Would anyone be interested in coughing up a few bucks and buying this T-shirt? It'll be about $12 or $13 if we buy them in bulk. Once place is 15, the other is $24, but quality is kind of the thing though.
