Anyways, I'd be down for a track day at something a little on the cheaper side like T-hill.
werd 30+ days a year for me between racing, instructing, and open testing... in terms of the amount of how mentally demanding the activities are, racing>open trackdays>autox>street. once you start doing the next level the previous level stops being as fun... it's an addiction.

all this typing= me jealous of people who can afford track days
seriously... take the 200 bux and do a track day, you will thank me later

Exactly. If it's seat time you're looking for, autocrosses have nothing on the 2+ hours you'll get at a single track day.

yeah i hear you guys and know i sound like an idiot,
i think it really comes down to my car being slow and wishing i had a turbo
and me being jealous of people that get racing handed to them:

I have a friend that works for WORKS Mitsu in the north bay, he drives/(daddy owns) the Yellow/Blue Turner motorsports BMW independently for fun. WORKS offered him a spot to drive the new FWD Lancer race car but some rich F is buying him out for $400,000 how F'd up is that? his chance to race down the drain due to some guy with $ that probly isnt even as good as him. Its depressing to even watch track days anymore. $ is evil...on both ends of this story lol

...yeah so the forum was slow i had to mix it up like always with my jealous rants

i dont know why people worry about seat time so much,

RallyXs seat time= empty dirt lot
AutoXs seat time= mtn roads
the only thing i see my $40 going towards are the results
i almost drove away from a RallyX when i found out it wasnt timed...turns out it was timed

thought its harder to find track status seat time.
JRsWRX might know of a little place i call HWY 85 meets 101 lol TONS of fun on/off ramps, i lap it all the time haha

but yeah to get back on topic, ive always thought about a Thunderhill day...Buttonwillows track was designed by retards i think.

Ironically Buttonwillow is right across the street from a John Deere Dealer, yet they couldnt move any dirt for some cool elevation changes LOL

kyle, if you only knew the extent of $ for driving in todays club racing scene you would puke your guts out. Thunderhill is a great track for your first day. All i can say about "slowcar vs turbo" is this: I have 2 cars... one is 300whp the other is 126whp. guess which one goes to more track days?

if you want to go out to a track day a thill let me know, and i will sign up with you.

You can still have A LOT of fun without a turbo... I went with my 00RS with minor suspension mods and I had a blast. You don't have to pass people to have fun you know.

I dunno man, my first track day was amazing experience. I was pulling 2:24 by the time I just about had enough of driving all day. For 132awhp and n00b driver, that's decent. Chris Miller jumped in my car, and was doing 2:15 by lap 4... 9 goddamn seconds! Who knows how much faster he could've gone.

It isn't about the power.

But lets not make this a smash on autox thread, each to his own, and they all have their benefits.

cool thanks for giving me SOME hope...i go to spec miata races and races with my friends Turner BMW and its just so depressing how much money you see them go thru...its like, dang all the years i thought i had a chance at becoming a race car driver out the window.

i'll bite the bullet and do a Thunderhill one in a year or whenever you guys plan this thing. But man thats half the months wages lol

I'm all for track days when I can get to them. No one has any idea just how unique a track day is over autox/mountain roads until they do one. But I think I had that conv. with Kyle before; I'm not gonna bang it into his head.

But... Darkonion... do you know what it takes to organize track days? I know the guy who does Unlimitedlaps. It's a lot of work, and you on the hook for the costs until people pay you back. You really need experience doing this as the organization of the day (and getting instructors, if you are) is all up to you as the organizer. I've notice that the safety is primarily due to how organizers run the thing.

Sorry. I am not organizing anything. When I said doing a track day, I meant participating in a track day, not organizing it. Sorry if my first post was unclear.

I was hoping to participate in a single track day with a bunch of other I-Club members. I hope that makes more sense.
