AT&T + Cingular have not "merged" yet, but they have started to integrate their GSM networks. You will not be charged roaming. When you get a better signal from a Cingular tower, the tag will read cingular, and likewise for AT&T.
This was officially supposed to start on the 18th, but they jumped the gun.
Your reception should have vastly improved, starting this week. Unless your phone is wack. (everything motorola except for the v600)

ps. buy a nokia, and say you have a family member that works for the united states postal service. 50 percent discount on everything.

But you will be charged regular minutes for Mobile to Mobile, and something like $0.25 per text message if you send while roaming. You can fix this in your phone by telling it to use AT&T only. Read howardforums.com or AT&T Wireless forums for more info. People who text like crazy are pissed!

I have had that problem too. I think it is because they bought out cingular and are using their poles now.

Man, it's gonna rock once the merge is done! I finally get AT&T's reception while keeping my Cingular plans! Also, the AT&T folks don't have to curse bloody murder about Cingular since they're still dealing with AT&T anyway. Believe me, I've had many friends ***** and whine about it without even knowing what the hell is going on.
