In san francisc around parkside district there is a 76 that is always out of 91. they only sell the lower grades and i wouldnt be surprise if some 76 gas stations mixed their crap or put in bad gas.

That is most likely in your head

The average person can't tell the difference in power when it comes to something like that.

I know Cheveron does it. The truck drivers are instructed to just fill up the 91 tanks with 87 if they run out of 91 and it isn't full.

I love having a vehicle that uses 87. I filled up at $2.03 a gallon yesterday. w00t!

I was just at that gas station this morning and didn't have any problems with the 91. Actually I go there pretty damn often and never had any knocking issues in the past. Now you guys freaked me out I think i'll go to the other station down the block. Most people who need 91 go to 76. Usually Shell is at the bottom of the list with Chevron in the middle.

I usually go to the same 76 and I keep all my receipts incase something like this happens. Call me paranoid or over cautious, but hey, if it's a bad tank of gas... I know who to go to.

yup.....my gas list is like that too....76, chevron, shell.

My 76 gas was definately 100% bad. I filled up with chevron just down the street and it's back to normal.

Maybe there's a shortage of 91 going around.... I filled up at a shell about a week ago and had some serious knock issues. As soon as the tank ran out (I drive a lot), I filled up with a fresh tank from 76 and all was fine again. I've never actually seen a tank this bad before, so it might be a good idea to be careful for a while.
