I believe the grenade launcher has to be removed in order for it to be legal in CA. Some people just hack it off, but there's the issue of exposed threads which some might consider to be a "threaded barrel." Some companies will weld on a muzzle brake to hide the exposed threads, which I think makes for a much cleaner looking rifle.

more than that.... cmon its CA.

threaded barrel is threaded barrel tip for a silencer or flash suppressor
for an AR to be legally transferred in CA you need to have the fixed magazine attached and functioning, and you are allowed to have either a folding stock or a bayonet clip but not both. least that's what i had to go through a year ago for my SKS
