ignore post #3, skip to post #12
ok vendors, I'm looking for the best price on slotted rotors, lines, and pads for an early model 2002 WRX. The best I've found so far is on eBay for about $500 shipped for StopTech SportStop rotors, StopTech SS lines, Axxis pads, and Motul fluid. I would prefer a package with Hawk pads though. I was going to go to LIC for the brake work, but I know I can do the work myself so I'd rather just buy the parts and do it myself
this setup will be run on the track once or twice and will be used for some Rally-X, but mainly daily driving.
I'll bump this thread at a reasonable hour too

Sorry dude but this is ****ing rediculous.
I am on vendors every now and again to be more active and what not on helping us petty customers out and being active on the baords and what not but this is just lame.
You're in an open area where EVERYONE can read it. You're asking local vendors to jump on each other to offer you the best price they can... sorry dude but that's not how it works. Most of the vendors are friends and carry similar products and many of them the same products. Getting into a bidding war is not in their best interest.
If you want to price shop... go on ebay.
You want to support your vendors... Call around.
Making vendors that have to pay... PAY for shop space compete with ebay and online vendors that do not isn't fair. Unfortunately most people do it.
Shoot I price shop. I ain't rich.
seriously.
pick what price range YOU want to pay in and then pick the brand that you think is the best in that price range.
sorry... just pissed me off.

so you want the vendors to get into a vending/price war over something as petty as a brake package????
Sorry dude but this is ****ing rediculous.

I never:
•Asked for top of the line products discounted to bargain brand prices (the only brand I'm specific on is hawk pads)
•Asked vendors to go so low they lose money
•Asked them to get into a pricing war for my business
•Said I would buy the lowest priced set
I did:
•Say what I was currently looking at and asked what products vendors have for around the same price (which is one of the last things you said, name my budget and then find brands that fit)
•Say I would pay more at local vendors (meaning I'm not asking them to compete pricewise with a low overhead business even though suby dude is a low overhead, online front store that allows local pick up even though they don't have an actual retail front barely making ends meat with their current profit margin

LOL, ok, I re-read this one and it did come off rather lazy and arrogant and I think this is why Ray thought I was trying to start a pricing war to get vendors to cmpete for my rather than my intended "what packages with these four components do you has for this price range?" hopefully I dirt **** off too many people. I guess I'll flood the vendor forums now since themembrs and mode successfuly derailed this one.

You're not the first person to think that... you should talk to my wife.
To short cut what you're looking for...
search the vendors that carry the pads you want.
That should narrow down to a few if you keep it local.
In your price range you only have a few choices in rotors and lines so just take the lines that they offer...usually goodrich. I have stoptech.
Rotor wise. I hate centrix but that along with powerslot, brembo blanks and stoptech are about all you're gonna have a shot at. DBA's are about $500 alone...actually more.
so...just call the couple vendors left on your list and you should have what you're looking for at a reasonable and fair price in under an hour.

I don't think your an *******.
However, the hard truth is that us "real" business with a building, registered with the BAR, have real business insurance, etc can not compete with some doofus sitting in his parent's basement that drop ships parts, carries no inventory, has no overhead, pays their "techs" minimum wage, etc.
I can't tell you the number of fellow i-clubbers that call me for technical support for an item that they purchased from eBay, the interweb, or even another i-club vendor.
And why do they call me?
Because the seller refuses to help them; won't answer the phone, return emails, or flat out tells them to **** off.
Yes, there are "vendors" here on i-club that are not "real" businesses in the eyes of the State; not BAR registered, no sales tax, not "brick & mortar"
There are vendors that, for whatever reason, choose to ***** out parts/services, thinking that's how a business is ran and can survive.
Yes, I love what I do; making customers happy doing what I do.
But I gotta make money.
To pay rent, insurance, hazmat disposal, BAR registration, house payment, car insurance, kids, etc
I realize money is tight for most people.
I also firmly believe that you seldom get great service at **** low prices.

Yeah. What Paul said. Call one of the local peeps and ask nicely. I am sure they try their best and see what can do.
