ATTN: black wagon with gold wheels that was at Thunder Hill...
I agree, everyone should do it at least once (then see if you can do it only once...). I went to track events with friends helping out (they had 5 cars and wanted them all at the track) and was instantly hooked - I got my car ready to go as soon as possible. This was about 6 years ago.. I will say that the first time you have a successful track day all your goals for your car will change. IMHO the best experience is had in a cheaper car that you know well. I have driven tons of cars and the most fun I had was in my '80 Celica and '01 MR-2 Spyder. And, no - RWD makes it wicked fun - the most fun for me. Having the engine in the back makes for more oversteer which means you can haul **** out of turns if you have the power. I went to Sears and Laguna with my WRX and it was pretty boring compared to the Celica. I think that's because the Celica is almost 1000lbs lighter and expendable. Light car that handles well with great tires and brakes with an audible exhaust so you never have to look to your dash for info, now there's a good time! It's really fun to out-drive people in "faster" cars except when they start holding you up in the turns and drag racing you on the straights...

there's nothing better than passing a 40-50k car in a 5k car
, then pitting, change tires and drive home.
I think one time I saw a civic passing everyone with "for sale 6k" on the window......classic!
oh...to be able to afford track days again.....

I've ridden with Lance a few times, and he's damn quick. Why can't you leave it at that?

There was this one point where an older M3 was behind me for about 3 laps and we had open track. Then I got tired and gave him the point-bye, and then followed him for about 3 laps. That was most likely my fastest laps of the day. I'll check the video tape for the times. But we were also running the by-pass at turn 5 so the lap times may be faster then normal.

This was the 1st time I ever ran the by-pass in the past 2.5 years @ TH.

KABLOEY! That sucked... sounded awesome though.
RWD isnt neccessarily harder to drive depending on a the car (a lightweight race-preped miata on R-compounds would probably be VERY easy to drive, but a heavy high-powered RWD car can be hard to handle. I've heard the latest gen Porsches like the ones you were passing, are rather easy to drive in comparison to most cars of its class)

Awesome! The supercharger was screeaamin......but it looks like he threw a rod, that sucks for him, now he has to completely rebuild his engine, or maybe even completely replace it, if things got really ugly inside there
......but I do believe that officially earns him a "0wN3d!"
Looks like you had a blast that day, you were keeping up with that vette pretty good before it broke. nice job
