Exclamation Attention: Stero Buffs! I knead some help with new speakers! Please help Brucie!

Hello and thanks for reading,

I just purchased a pair of front speakers which are the appropriate diameter for an 07 STi. However, there is one issue, and I come to you in my time of need, or should I say in my time of "knead".

So here's the issue, the stock STi speakers (which are possibly the worst speakers EVER) have a depth of 2", and the speakers I purchased have a depth of 3", and might require a depth of 3.5 inches. Do you guys know enough to be able to tell me off the bat if they will fit or not? If they will not fit 100% then I will return them, but I need to know before installation.

Also, any stereo guys out there that want to make a quick $40 by installing two front speakers? (I have no idea how much work is involved as I know nothing about sound systems). I live in Fremont and I figure $40 would be cool for an hours work, hell, even 2 hours work... especially in this economy. Only for people who are well versed in this sort of work please!

Edit: This is only TWO speakers and nothing else, no tweaters (spell?), amps, etc. Just adding front speakers to an otherwise stock system.

I wouldnt waste $30 on buying spacers, much easier to just make some out of plywood. But don't think with that depth your gonna be able to clear the door cards because the spacer will make the speaker stick out quite a bit.

Wow that actually seems pretty easy to install just speakers. Probably a bit more complicated if you are upgrading the speaker wires as well though ( as it doesn't really seem like that is mentioned in my quick glance of the links above ). Are upgraded speaker wires needed though for our cars?

I'd try to install them and see what happens. They might fit... though I believe the depth is limited to something like 2.7 inches unless something changed.

If they don't fit buy the spacers... they're made well and don't cost that much. Or if you want to make some drop me a line and you can borrow mine. I have the 6.5 inch spacers for the front and 5.25 spacers for the rear doors.

I need to sell my stereo isht to pay rent... grrrr.

Daniel, whatever you end up putting in there, I can install them for you.

For payment I only accept beer while working, or ammo.

care to help me out.

I'm trying to decide what to do with my stereo...

old gear...
Alpine 9855, Mattjk Screen JL 500/1 and 300/4 along with a JL 10w7 and some CDT separates.

I can't decide if I want to just put that back in or run my stock stereo or maybe sell all my isht and try to get a decent navi deck to fill the hole in my dash.

But right now I need to get things fixed. The douche that did the previous install did a number on the wires in my dash. I need someone to look at it that knows what they're looking at. I just get frustrated... hence no stereo in the car for over a year.

Think I'm gonna sell some of my stuff though. The deck, screen, the ipod box and cable and the ainet box to either pay rent or finance a replacement deck or the bits I need to get the stock deck back in there.

I can supply beer...

Front speakers are so much easier to install then you may think upon first glance. It's really just a matter of using the hardware and plugging the stock wires back in. Hell the hardest part is taking the door card off.

I think crutchfield can tell you if your going to require a spacer. I think you will.

And man the stock speakers are ****.
