Is ATT internet as fast as Comcast?

Comcast is worlds faster. It also NEVER goes down where I live. I have actually hit 3 MBPS download and 1 MBPS upload (sustained!) . When I had pac-bell/sbc yahoo/att dsl it would go down CONSTANTLY! And if anyone was using the phone it would stay down until they hung up, no matter how many times I replaced those stupid phone line filters. Personally, I will never go back to dsl.

Do you play games online? Because there are lots of times where I'd blame web delays on the website if I didn't get disconnected all the time while playing games. I went from rock solid DSL service to playing on the same servers and seeing regular disconnects with Comcast. I had more disco's in the first 6 months with Comcast than in 5 years with my DSL provider.
I don't care how "fast" a service is at that point. If I am sitting around tapping my foot waiting to re-connect, it's not fast for what I need, which is not throughput or bandwidth. Marketing fast is not what I want or need. The OP and the average joe may be okay with marketing fast and disco's, but I'm not. I'd be happier with 1/6th the "speed" and no more disconnects.

My DSL used to go down like every hour, sometimes more . Also if I was uploading anything the download speed would slow down to 56k speeds which was really annoying..

I had comcast for a while, then I thought ah hell I'll save a few bucks went to the dish. It was fine unlit spring and the leaves on trees blocked my reception. I went back to Comcast and stuck with them for a number of years. They caught me a couple of times when the into rate expired and tried to milk me for a $300 bill. This was easy I just told them I was leaving and they took care pretty well. MY last go 'round with them was with our service. Apparently the line feeding our house had degraded and was cutting the signal short. We lost internet, HD, then TV. FOr three weeks I tried to arrange the repair service. I just got fed up and called AT&T, got the uverse installed. That'll show 'em. Well the joke was on me. I'm goin back to Comcast. Even after all of the problems I had with getting service restored. Comcast just offers better features. I miss my Comcast HD DVR sooo much.

I only know about AT&T cellular service, and that sucks donkey nutz. I can only wish Verizon would be able to service iPhone without jailbreaking the phone - if that happens, I am SO GONE from AT&T.
They spend at least 25x more money on commercials trying to convince people to sign up for service than they spend on network maintenance and keeping the (sucky) level of service they still have. They shut down towers for no particular reason to ensure people have service that is spotty and drops calls at least 10% of the time.
