A couple of years ago there was an amazing shower and some big astronomy buff friends of mine planned a big trip out to Sherman Island. It's the darkest place I've been to near the bay area, no light pollution of any kind. I saw more stars than when I was in the middle of the desert.
If anyone wants to plan a shower meet for late night here's the island:

I started a thread about heading up towards the lick observatory.
Glad to see someone posting up about this.
Sounds like the wifey wants to go check this out.
I'm in the South Bay, so:

Since the Perseids are supposed to be best viewed in the NE, this seems to have a pretty good view.
Figure less people will be here, but the drawback is that it technically faces the South. So to view the NE, our view would partially be obstructed by the mountain.
Hope you don't feel this is a hijack, just wanted to get more feedback.

(do i smell stargazing meet anyone?!?!?!)

I'm in the South Bay, so:
- I'm debating about whether to hit up that Parking Lot on Hwy 35 (North of Page Mill, near Clouds Rest Rd...i think this is the one).

Since the Perseids are supposed to be best viewed in the NE, this seems to have a pretty good view.
- My 2nd option was to go to the parking lot on Hwy 9, just after Skyline.
