Asshats almost killed my sis!

****! I'm so farkin' pissed...just got a call from my sis, she said no big deal and she's not hurt and neither is the car, but she narrowly avoided being smashed cause of street racers.

backstory...I gave my sis my WRB wagon to commute to Livermore since I wanted her to drive in a "safer" car than her Miata. The wagon has gold rims, but otherwise has no visual signs of mod...i.e., the catback is stock and it's super quiet.

Well, two jackasses--one in a lowered domestic pickup truck, tinted all dark with some kind of huge sticker on the tailgate, and the other a mid-90s integra or civic (she doesn't know)--were either racing each other or trying to egg her on. She couldn't tell cause she was afraid to make eye contact with either one of them. They would keep slowing down and flying by her or one another constantly switching across all 4 lanes of traffic on 680 in moderate traffic. She just stayed in the left lane with the flow of traffic.

This went on for a couple of minutes apparently and then the two clowns decide to take off. The integra/civic cut off an SUV that was right in front of my sis, slammed INTO a pickup truck in front of him. The SUV slammed into the integra/civic, lost control, and actually flipped over!

Fortunately my sis swerved onto the shoulder and grass immediately without thinking, cause the car behind couldn't brake in time and actually slammed into either the SUV or integra/civic in front of her. Anyways, she said it was all a haze and she didn't even know that she had swerved out of the way until all the smoke had settled.

Well, the aftermath is an ambulance came and took the kid/dude in the integra away...it looked pretty bloody. She doesn't know about the people in the SUV, but the roof looked collapsed. The guy behind her that hit the cars in front of him is okay, just shaken.

She's okay, just scared witless and shaking. She's talking with the CHP right now and she thinks they suspect her of racing, but she thinks the guy behind her, as well as the other people that stopped, can corroborate her story of the other a-holes racing. Plus, I hope they don't think a 27-yr old product manager is gonna be street racing....it's just that the WRX image doesn't help her any.

Anyways, I a dick for saying this, but I hope the dumbfark civic kid is majorly injured...and if my sis had gotten hurt, I would've tried to find his hospital and pull the f'ing cord.

/sorry for the long rant

I wouldn't blame you one bit if you did that. My g/f and I carpool and she drops me off then continues to work. I'm always afraid something like that is gonna happen cause of the mods on my car. I'd kill someone if they caused something like that near me.

well, somebody called her at the office claiming to be chp...they said they're just asking followup questions to help determine who the tinted P/U driver was, but they were asking a lot about the subie. She was polite at first, but after a few minutes of asking her about the car, she said she didn't feel comfortable answering all these questions and said she'd ask her legal department for assistance in answering the question. That shut him up...but now I'm super worried.

I'm gonna ask her to bring the car over and I'm gonna put in the stock downpipe (the only major "engine" mod) just to be safe. <sigh>

BTW...apparently the accident was yesterday morning, but she just told me today. Poor girl was so afraid that I'd be mad at her for driving the car onto the grass that she didn't tell me.

I wouldn't post anything you don't want the CHP to read, if you know what I mean steavenkhau. Don't want your innocent sister to take any blame because of a post here.

good point bassplayrr...

i'm sure everything will work itself out...but damn...I hate racers SOOOO f'in much. I've never heard ANY reason why people would play around with other people's lives like that.

on that note...I've just noticed the civic parts and racer classified adds on the bottom of this page. LOL.

oh yeah, she's been getting plenty of that...it's been annoying her quite a bit. she works at an engineering firm and all these guys are always trying to impress her with their bimmers and audi's. because she's a manager, they think she has no knowledge, but in fact, she has a MS in Mechanical Engineering and her thesis was on combustion shock wave propagation control. she just let the guys make fools of themselves and just tell em, "it's my bro's car". she's having a good time laughing at them.

+1 for her being safe. You should tell her that you're happy for her because she just used the car more for what it was built for

Glad your sis got away unscathed. Those other dudes got what was coming to them for their asshattery, so I wouldn't worry too much about it... they will be hurting both physically and financially for their mistake...

+1 on editing your comments. In this crazy world, you never know what people are going to do. If those asshats turn around and try to sue your sister or whatever, your comments will probably not be of any benefit to you.

I can understand your anger, but take solace in the fact that your sister is fine and was just a bit shaken.

Just make sure ur sister is careful about what she tells the cops. I have been seeing all these TV shows recently how the cops try to acuse you of doing something that you didn't do.
