Assessment of service from DPT

Hey all,

Just wanted to give a review of Davon's (Dan Avon) work (ala DPT).

3 weeks ago, He performed my stage 4 install plus plugs and ALK. This was during a club install day. He was disadvantaged because it was at another member's garage (thanks again aaron) so he wasn't familiar with the set-up there. We were running around looking for tools and stuff.

Davon is professional and mature and seems pretty experienced in the work he does. He's very focused on his work and is easy to communicate with. The best part of having Davon do the work is that he'll explain what he's doing as he goes...not like taking it to a professional garage where they don;t let you see what's going on. I consider this a huge benefit (others may not).

Between him answering my questions and the barbq and answering all the other member's questions, the install took all day. that was cool w/ me since ...hey it's an install day w/ like 10 other subies (not where you want to be if you;re in a hurry)

We had challenges:
I bought the wrong fuel pump
The car had 60K miles on it so many of the bolts were seized (good 'ol MI winters)
The oil return line did not seat properly the first time

They were all addressed and resolved to my satisfaction.

The price was probably well less than half of what I would have paid if I had it professionally installed by a local shop.

I'd recommend davon to anyone looking to get some help on their stage 4 who also would like to be "involved" in the work. Keep in mind that this is something he's just doing on the side. Don;t expect some professional garage mechanic...just another suby enthusiast who's done a lot of these installs and can help you out for a very reasonable price.

If you're considering working w/ him, I'm open to answering questions. PM me.

dan

=)

In all seriousness, I don't want this thread to degrade to a humorous one w/ Davon's friends posting up...that won't do Davon any favors since it takes away from the objectivity of the review. Before davon did the stage 4 I never even met him.

I think DPT fills the niche between doing the install yourself and some of the reputable vendors such as Vishnu, Gruppe-S, and MPJ. I was fully planning on doing the install myself, but the parts boxes started to stack up and I was so busy w/ work that it would have taken months. I was contemplating taking the work to a shop, but I know I would not be allowed to "participate" or even be in the garage....and up till now I've done everything on my car personally...

You generally want to do a stage 4 all at one time, so DPT allowed me to get it done right in a short time and feel involved enough that I knew what it takes to somday remove the parts and/or upgrade.

dan.

DPT is not a vendor and neither is a professional installer.

Sure, if you choose someone work in your car in someone else's garage for $9.99, its your choice.

I'd like to see what dpt will do when someones car falls off the jack stands or catches on fire during fuel pump and bbq.
