asking i-club to help with desicion. which job to take?

so heres the situation. i am a treatment counselor and ive been looking for a new job. i went to 2 interviews and was offered both jobs. now, one job pays really good but i have to live at the facility 3 days a week ( dorm style with the other counselors). which ive never done before and dont really know what to think. could be really weird. but its enough to pay my bills. and has benifits ( for my pregnant wife) now the other job also has benifits and is a regular monday thru friday 7-4 schedule but pays almost nothing. i would have to get a second job on the side just to pay my bills. i told both i would take it just to buy some time. they both start on the same day so i have to figure out which is best while factoring in the bills, the fact that she's due in 4 months etc. anyone worked a job where you live there for half of the week ? any advice even if you havent?

If you have a second job it will be like you're not home anyway.

which ever one makes you happy, pays the bills, and leaves time for you with your wife and new child is the one I would pick. Also depends on what level of severity your patients are.
Are both jobs focused on the same areas of mental health? Is one more dangerous then the other? Will one be more demanding of your "spare" time?

From what you've said so far, I would most likely pick the 3-night live in dorm place if it pays more. you'll still have 4 nights a week that you can spend with the wife.

Which is going to give you more flexibility once the baby arrives? Getting a second job will suck and make your time off less enjoyable due to fatigue and having such little time to take care of responsibilities. Can you meet with you wife for lunch, breaks, etc at the live in job? Also, I know of a residential facility in Boulder Creek that is hiring, if you want another option.

if you have to take a second job you're gonna be away from home even more often than you are with the dorm style job.

Tough choice. Both sound like they're gonna be tough to deal with once the baby arrives.

Something you and your wife need to get a grasp on and decide together.

ya, the first job for sure. Dorm/barracks style is no big deal, and 3 days a week is CAKE!!!

Break it down...you get paid MORE to work LESS. Sounds like a winner

1st job.

Unfortunatly paying bills is more important than spending more time with the family in this country. Very tough choice to make.
