BTW, I thought the red open box would really compliment the red in the engine bay!

its an aesthetic thing. nothing more.

do not expect a power increase from an intake if you are not pushing much higher numbers than stock.

The gains will be there, you just need to get the car tuned when you install this intake.

The gain is avg between 10whp to 13whp on an EVO. I am sure same gains can be achieved on WRX/STi

We provided the parts and Bryan@ GST did the Tune.

Figured as much, But I wanted to be sure also if it is worth it. A few firends of mine have ARC boxes on thier EVO's and they see gains.

Replacement filters for that ARC intake are ridiculously (over $100/ea) expensive...

So would aesthetics be the only gain from this intake as compared to a more conventional intake? I know little about the ARC Induction Box.

you should also consider getting the AEM C.A.R.B Legal Intake. it comes w/ CARB legal sticker so the Police can't harass you for aftermarket intake system.

If you are still running the stock turbo, the stock air box works extremely well compared to most intakes on the market. If you already have a TBE and tune, I would say go ahead and get the air box... BUT GET RETUNED! Changes of airflow past the MAF will need to be retuned. If you don't have a TBE yet then I'd say pass on the air box and get the TBE first. You'll feel way more difference with a TBE and tune compared to the air box and tune.

just my $0.02

I just don't see how replacing the stock air box with a bigger metal one can increase power or torque. You've just increased the amount heat that is retained by the intake components. Ergo, hotter intake temps. And how does a box improve flow characteristics. $500 for 10 whp? Nope.

Ok, Well I see this is maybe not the best idea. So I will ask this ? instead. What should be the next step I go with more more gain. I have a downpipe and exhuast (turbo back), NGK plugs and a Koyo radiator. On my access port I have a stage 2 map installed, but need a tune on it. What would be the next best step? This is my 1st turbo car so its a new ball game to me still, but I am learning!

hands down, head over to GST and get a tune you will be pleased with how much better a tuned custom map is over a off the shelf map.

but because you have not been tuned yet you could pick up an intake like the aem then get tuned and see a gain.

depending on your car alot of people recomend a walbro fuel pump aswell and 1-step colder plugs.

talk to the tuner you choose about an upgrade path and basically it comes down to were you want to go with the car and the size of your wallet

Sounds like a plan, Ill take a trip to GST this week and pick up the AEM from Speed Element. Any idea what type of tune they do? I asked GST by email the price, and they stated a "Short Special" for 1 map.Any idea what that is?
