I bought one when it released because I had an old school Blackberry. I've had some battery issues and now Apple has acknowledged this and is going to replace batteries.
Yay, no more shutting off at 20% or 30% randomly.

Guess it took them 2 years to figure this bug out... lol

The affected iPhone 5 devices were sold between September 2012 and January 2013 and fall within a limited serial number range.

mine sometimes turns off at 30% as well. Good to know why. I have to get my screen fixed first though.
"Note: If your iPhone 5 has any damage such as a cracked screen which impairs the replacement of the battery, that issue will need to be resolved prior to the battery replacement. In some cases, there may be a cost associated with the repair."

Their products are good quality, and they provide something very unique.
You cannot get the same exact user experience using anything other devices, mainly because they're the only company that use iOS and OSX. They also have several perks. Ease of use and unity is one of them. You buy apple products, everything is synced using iCloud. iMessage lets you message other Apple users for free saving a text message fee. Facetime is a free mobile video chat with great quality (first of its kind). Also, the chargers for certain devices within the same generation are the same. The learning curve (albeit only for older / non-tech saavy people) from an iPad to an iPhone is not hard to make etc.
That being said, is that user experience worth the tax (IMHO)? No.
Is their product quality worth the tax (IMHO)? No.
Can I understand why people want to pay the tax? Yes.
Is there comparable hardware in cheaper PCs? Yes.

As for operation, I like simple stupid so the iphone is easier for me to operate. The Samsung is a tad more complicated but much quicker and has more options.
Kinda like a Suby and an Evo, to each his own.
plays well with others

I use PC and Mac but I'm iOS only for portables. When the iPhone first came out, it was better than any of the other smartphones out there. Now the wife is hooked so there's no reason to buy anything else. They all cost basically the same anyway so whoopty ****.
As far as machines, I do prefer both OSX and Apple hardware. I've owned numerous mac minis, an xserve, several macbook pros / airs, and some imacs as well. Vastly superior to comparable PC's (both specs and price point) mainly due to windows being a pile of **** and PC manufacturers using **** components.
Then again, I don't game on computers... so I don't need to worry about running a closed platform.
I digress, and await OB's mouthfoaming reply.
