I was hoping someone in the East bay (Preferred Pleasanton area but Milpitas area works too) who has an Cobb V2 Accessport could help me out. I need to borrow your Dongle. Been having some issues (and yes i called Cobb already a nice sum of #s of times).
and blacktrax looked at it and said nothing was mechanically wrong with the car.
what happened: I have a TBE and spt intake, so i wanted to get an AP. I tried flashing it with a v1 AP but it drained my batter. Thus i got a new battery and then got instead a V2 Accessport and flashed it to Stage 1. I kept it there for 100 miles and then flashed it to Stage 2 91octane. in less than 2 weeks already the ignition started feeling stiffer. i had to push harder on the gas to accelerate and it felt sluggish. Sort of like there was friction on the wheels slowing me down or something on the suspension/brakes. But nothing was wrong with them and it all operated fine. so i flashed it back to stock (uninstalled it) and drove it for a bit. it felt normal like before it was flashed. Then when i went to reflash it back to stage 2 it wouldnt let me. It got all the way to selecting the stage 2 map and then after clicking on it and saying okay (everything connected & all steps followed) it said initializing for not even 2 seconds and then the "error cannot communicate with ECU, check that everything is connected properly etc. etc." came up. I removed the negative from the battery for 30 seconds, i restarted the ecu with the AP, but it WONT let me flash to a map (stage 1, stage 2, anything else).
thus i am hoping that maybe it is just the dongle being deffective (even though i updated all the software for the AP and dongle)
Let me know if you got a V2 doggle that i can borrow,
Thanks!
Dan
(sorry for the long write up)

No, it cant be. it reads and runs perfectly fine. it identifies the car as USDM 2004 Impreza WRX, if it had a short or voltage error then it wouldnt be able to read it at all. That is the weird thing. it gives the error after selecting the map

Are you flashing a basemap or a real time map?
You can stop by the shop in the morning if you like (oh **** I am still here) and I will take a look at it for you.

Dan, if for some reason you two aren't able to meet up at the In-n-Out meet let me know as I am staring at the box for my AP ver. 2 right next to me so I can meet up with you to borrow the dongle if need be.

have you checked your plugs lately? The tune change could have crudded them up if it made you rub too lean/too rich. I would definitely do a data dump... especially after the reflash just to make sure your numbers are within acceptable range.

To do a data dump you need either an out of the box appliance which can scan/capture/turn off CEL, etc... or a cable which goes from ECU(obdII port) to usb port, and software which can capture the log. OpenECU is one of them.

OK first things first. Removing the negative off the battery will reset the ECU. It will not provide any data but will if left off long enough wipe the learned data from the ECU. I've been told after you reconnect it will take a approx 50 miles to start logging good data and learning again.
