That's just some creepy stuff. However, it's not like I talk about anything important for the government or the FBI to get their drawls in bunches over.

if you think about the sheer volume of conversations passed through the system in an hour . . . what are they going to do? honestly, yeah it's unethical, but odds are only two pairs of human eyes will ever see the conversation (granted there aren't other physical observers on either end of the connection)

ps news flash.

just about anything you say, type, and send via any modern communications system is monitored, or can be monitored.

Key words

Some systems may use Key words. You're engaged in a conversation between two entities that might be of interest to, lets say, the government. In that conversation, words like "Bomb", "Strike", or "Attack" may trigger an automated system to start recording...
Just an idea.

That's why I always answer my phone "Mike's terror network, how can I help you?"

I also like to try to work the words "Fatwa", "Radiogenic", and "Infidels" into the subject lines of all my emails...

Keeps the bastards buisy.

encryption in most cases is a myth.

may cover your *** for 99.9 percent of people out there but it is that .1% that you should be worried about in the first place

This is not exactly news. The same lack of privacy applies to gmail, btw... if you don't delete any old emails, after 180 days (when they lose their status of protected communication) all it takes is a subpoena for Google to provide a copy under the patriot act. Scary stuff, read up on it here.

You are right though, if big brother wants to decrypt something, it is not too difficult for them to do.

Eh, turns out the TOS was horribly worded.
