i'm going out there this morning...4 yr. anniversary present for my gf...all we are planning on doing is the aquarium (havent been there since elementary school), wine tasting, restaurants (on cannery row), maybe the wharf (they got some good seafood restaurants there and nice to walk along wharf and waterfront too) and 17 mile drive!!, i did that drive before, if you are taking car down should be nice place for pics too, if the weather holds up...if i see ya i'll wave, not sure if i'm driving my car down this weekend....

Ya I was thinking about the aquarium, I havent been there since i was younger either... All I remember was the glass tunel with the sharks swimming over haha. The wharf sounds cool too! So where is the 17mi drive at? Down one of the highways? Sorry I havent been down there in a long time.
i believe the 17 mile drive is near carmel. i made a post here long long time ago about what to do in monterey. if you head south on 1, there is a dirt road right before the bixby bridge. IIRC there is a sign that reads something like Non-All Wheel Drive vehicles not advisable when wet. since you are gonna be near cannary row, check out gianni's pizza near by. good cheap eat. if you want seafood, check out monterey's fish house near seaside (fairly inexpensive for being in the monterey area). hell, go check out laguna seca if you have never seen it. don't know if they let you check out the track when there isn't an event though.

Yes!!! +1 on that Pizza!!!
Damn, makes me wanna go there today.. lol
If you're staying until the evening, bring a flashlight, some sneakers or roller blades, and go walk around Laguna Seca at night
Just be nice to the people camped around there, or they'll call the cops on you. Be friendly, and they might even lend you some supplies.

go further south. take the coast route all the way down to big sur (45mins. more or less). Its the most beautiful piece of highway 1 ive seen from seattle to half way down baja. If youd like a really nice, albeit expensive dinner, stop by ventana lodge/ campground jsut beyone the big sur visitor station. try to get there before sunset and have a few drinks outside on the teak chairs if its not too cold. You can get by on the small plates if you don't eat a whole lot. The chef there the last time I went was really creative with local/seasonal ingredients. There's a campground there too if you're into it. seriously... this has to be done, after the aquarium for sure(best in the world), and sykes hotsprings for all you backpackers out there hehe. god i miss the bay, F socal.

We are having a BBQ tomorrow (saturday) afternoon at Toro Park. It is a bunch of the subies from the area. You are welcomed to come hang out and say hi if you feel like it. We will be there around 12 and we will probably start eating around 1 or 2pm
