Anyone use napa rotors for a track day?
Has anyone ever tracked napa rotors with track pads?
|
MonsterGC?!
|
Lots of people do, especially if they're running track/race pads.
|
Cheap rotors for the track?
|
k thanks, which ones should i buy? Just the cheap blanks?
|
I would be very surprised if there was any difference in composition between Napa and OEM rotors at this point.
Betting they all come out of the same foundery's in China or Mexico |
just get Centric Premiums:

I'm assuming run the rotors for only the track day then swap rotors back?
Never heard of that |
People do it for autocross all the time. Can't speak for road racing.

Last set of autozone rotors I bought were ****ed, warped from the start but plenty of life as long you don't mind the horrid vibration.
Pretty much anything can be done, but imo a pretty terrible idea in every respect. |
What about resurfacing rotors for track days? Low on funds to buy new rotors. The rotors themselves are basically new.

your rotors are newish? Why do you want to replace them or resurface them? Do you have a vibration? How bad is it? We talking about track day or more autoX? |
My original plan was to run 2 different brake setups, one for track and one for dd. Being low on funds I was wondering if its okay to resurface rotors for a track day. The fronts have barely any lip but they have gone through a lot of autox.
The pads are ebc yellows so I was thinking of just dd those after the track day |
Also my front rotors are on the wrong side lol just havent swapped em to the other side
|
Just cracked a Centric front rotor yesterday. I ended up getting 25k miles out of them and 4 trackdays. If you are serious about tracking, don't cheap out on pads as they will warp the rotors and lay down tons of pad deposit.
Any Decently Aggressive pad (Better than Hawk HP+) should do the job regardless of what rotor you run. Don't machine the rotors if you can avoid it. |
