Hey Od! Long time no drive man. Is this a timed run of the roads, meaning basically that you're expected to stick to posted speed limits?

If so, I'm not so sure it's any better than heading out there by yourself on the weekend. That route they have looks suspiciously similar to Doc Wong's route. It's an awesome route, but all of those roads are roads that you and I have driven before I think, so it's no new territory or anything.

Last time I was in one of these rallye's I caught a lot of disapproval based on the fact that:

those roads + me driving speed limit = invalid

Lemme know what the deal is with this, and if winds up being a Sunday drive then we should meet up for a drive soon regardless. There's a youngster on this board by the name of Alex who wants to go out driving and I'm sure we can round a couple more level headed people.

Hey Alan,

From the main organizer:
"It's a cruise at the speed limit following all the rules of defensive driving."

Its more of a social thing I believe. You already know my theory of speed on the backroads (ie the fewer people going, the better/faster/safer). If it was just a speed thing, you know it'd be invite only basis like before .

I have never been on one of the "drives" before, so I think it would be fun! When would this drive be happening if one were interested in tagging along? Or would the WRXers be going on Aug. 2 when the EVO's go, or would we be picking a different date?

Hey Ted...

I think Dave is planning on going along with the Evo guys for the drive. Nothing wrong with mixing the car clubs up ya know?

The drives are cool if you don't know the roads because you get to learn about a lot of great places off the beaten path. Once you know the roads a bit better it becomes a bit hard to keep to the posted speed limits...

So, if you don't know the roads go on out there and learn from these guys. It's usually pretty easy to meet people at these things too, so you'll find some driving buddies.

Dave... If that date has nothing more interesting going on maybe I'll head out just to see some Evo's, but like I said... We should set up a drive soon, maybe this weekend. Talk to ya soon bro.

Probably not this weekend as I've already got a lot of plans. The scoob isn't running so well at the moment anyway... Wanna do something during the week? My weekends are booked for the next month or so...

What's up with your car? I haven't been keeping up with your mods recently... Anything major or is it minor? You can take this to PM if you'd rather, or just e mail me at sirxero at aol dot com

Sweet, I have no problems with mixing up the car clubs! the more the merrier! Being fairly new to the area, it would be cool to find some nice places to go to that are kinda secluded, and meet some cool peeps/driving buddies. <nod, nod> Also, if anyone is up for a drive this weekend, I might be interested. <hint, hint>

I'll keep you posted through PM's on this message board when I go driving. I'm going to be getting my tires mounted this week so I'll very likely be scrubbing them in on the backroads sometime this week or weekend.

Just a side note, while I do drive above the speed limit, I'm far from being the KeWL GuY RaCeR I was in younger and more stupid days. My goal is too go as slow as I possibly can while still getting the feeling I need. Like I said though, I'll keep ya posted.
