Anyone seen any info on VF34 protune vs cobb OTS map?

Just wondering and looking for some info. The only thread about the cobb map and vf34 was from over two years ago.

I didn't see any comparisons made between the cobb vs protune. Its pretty obvious that a pro tune is better, but still cost $200.

So, has anyone had any experience with the Cobb map and later protuned? Any input would be appreciated.

Also someone in that thread also mentioned how crappy our CA 91 is and that we shouldn't even run it. Anyway, since Cobb does have a 91 CA map now, is that still the case?

the $200 is well worth it, seriously. Some cars run fine on the OTS maps, some run terribly. Either way, there i susually a lot of power, torque, smoothness, and response to be had when getting a custom tune

Most VF3X cars I've seen come in on the Cobb maps make ~240whp with very poor response. After a good tune, they generally make 260-275whp with much better response and drivability. I have yet to have a customer be unsatisfied with the gains they got from the tune over Cobb's OTS maps.

Thanks

So is the 275 whp on an 06wrx with the 2.5litre block???

A 2.0litre won't produce anywhere near that with a VF, unless your talking about a dynojet dyno..a mustang is lucky to get 250whp with a VF34.

250whp is a little on the low side on my Mustang dyno.

I went from 224whp knocking pretty often, really sluggish and jerky in the lower rpms with the cobb OTS VF34 maps to 246whp, zero knock, spooled up about 300rpm sooner and was super smooth after having Mike work his magic at Gruppe-S, but that got me addicted and couldn't stop after that

250whp is deffinately quite low for a VF series turbo, but it can happen with a stock TMIC and restrictive, catted exhaust. With a free flowing exhaust and efficient TMIC or FMIC, they usually make 260-275whp.

Thanks

I'd like to mention that every car is different and some cars just don't make the expected numbers even with a good setup. I know it sucks for the unlucky few, but it does happen. Sometimes its possible to extract more power out of such cars by trying different tuning approaches, but sometimes you just get a weak motor and nothing can really be done about it.

Thanks

I think 260's are not the norm. For every car making over 260 there are three times as many making less like 240's.

My 02 made 242 and another car right after me got tuned and made 245 at GS. We had the exact same power mods too, pretty funny.

Maybe we're referring to different dynos, mods, tunes, etc. Maybe I've got a week engine, I don't konw

Most vf34 powered cars make between 240whp and 265whp depending on catted or catless and FMIC or TMIC. This is of course based on dyno results from our dyno and tuned by various tuners not just myself.
