Anyone running a FLI motorswap?

Ive talked to Miles briefly about it and was just wondering if anyone else had gone the Fine Line Imports route. Sounds good to me but I just wanted to check up and ask those who have delt with them before. I have heard nothing but good things so far, so its looking up.

Talk to hayscoob and suafast. They both get work done at Fine Line Imports and only have good things to say about them.

Who is FLI? And are you talking motorswaps or CONVERSIONS?

There have been 15 conversions performed by Adam. If your looking to pay less, then maybe someone else is the better choice.

Adam has swapped:

-EJ20 into a RS, LEGACY, OUTBACK, L, etc, etc...
-EJ25 into a VANAGON (currently in progress)

*In addition conversion of automatic's into manual's

-Noah

You talked to me? I don't remember that

02scoobyroo drives a FLI tuned 2002 WRX. I have never heard anything bad about them, but I'd really have to go with LIC. Help some suby ethusiasts out! Besides, Noah and Adam are great guys

The only reason Im asking is that the price I was quoted was considerably less than I-Speed/LIC, and the ONLY reason I might even consider going anywhere else is because money is very scarce right now for me, I have tons going on with all of my mom's cancer treatments and family issues. Also, I didnt know they offered motor swaps. And yes, Im reffering to a conversion, which I am not sure they do or not. I was kinda hessitant about posting this cuz I have a rather strong sense of loyalty towards I-Speed and now LIC because I know Chris and Bill, who did my clutch and flywheel, plus Im getting to know everyone else. So I was simply asking around, to see what others thought.

Max,

I know LIC is the way to go, and I would do it in a heartbeat if I had the money in hand.

Here is all the info behind this....

There was a STi Ver. 5 engine on Ebay, I emailed the seller with some questions. Turns out it was Fine Line Imports. So I asked some more questions, and in the response I got was an offer to deliver the motor if I was going to install it or to set up an appointment to have it installed. So then, I asked for a price on the install, I think I made it clear I have an RS, not sure tho, and Im sure that would complicate things if that wasnt clear, but the price was a little more friendly to my budget right now. So, I was just asking around to see if anyone has had FLI do a swap for them. There it is and now Im kinda regretting I asked. My first choice, of course, is LIC, hands down, but thats if I am able to come by enough money.

USDM EJ20 w/ LIC = daily driver, reliable, mod friendly, smog certified, increased resale value!!

keep in mind a JDM version 5 swap is using a JDM ECU....not gonna pass the smog referee to my knowledge!

I know the choice I made was the right one!!

Very true. But the quote I got was for a USDM EJ20 with a JDM STi 5spd. But I dont think it matters anyway. Im just going to wait until I have the money to go through LIC, Ive seen Adams work first hand and I still dont really know anything about FLI, so this thread is now kinda obsolete. I guess Ill just keep waiting and saving as much as I can.

seems fine to me. just make sure you have EVERY little part that you need for this swap. that tranny going in, make sure that you have the correct gearing on the differential ends. Make sure that they know you want this car to be smog ref'ed and 100% legal.

and personally, i'd go to LIC

which is probably what i'll be doing in a few years. Haven't settled on a engine yet, but i know it's Adam who'll be doing the swap.

What's the difference between LIC and I-Speed? I thought Adam worked/was a part of I-Speed? Sorry I must have missed some BAIC episodes or something but just wondered is all as I was going to recommend going to I-Speed for the conversion.
