Make sure you have plenty of cowbell.

I can play basic beats, but that's about it. My feet and hands don't disconnect so well. I'll stick to guitar unless I magically figure it all out.

hey man, i started on rock band and eventually bought an roland electronic set. its quiet and good for learning, but if you have the room and noise capacity, id go with acoustic for the real experience. i have my roland in my garage and i play all the time to songs i like (from the aux ipod input). i havent had a lesson yet and im half decent from just playing along and figuring it out. youre welcome to come play mine and see how you like it. rolands like mine are around 2300 new and 1500-2000 on cl.

just came back from spending 3 hours at guitar center. Yamahas are really good for the price. oh yea, guitar center is the s***! all the employees there are super chill and let me go to work on their drums.

I would never be good at drums. I have to play drums on rockband on easy cuz i cant get the hand foot coordination down. my wife though can play hard on all and expert on most. Me I just guitar or if i am drunk I have been known to sing a song or 2.

I hate the electric drums due to the lack of realistic stick response (unless you get the $5000 set with the mesh heads and semi-realistic cymbals)

I agree. Nothing like the real thing...specially if you want to get rid of some stress..LoL

Here's my theory.....If you have some sense of timing..and if you can drive stickshift, you "should" be able to keep a basic beat going..haha
I dunno...just my thought.

but do I hear ..."jam session"????? haha

Roland mesh heads are very good. I have the td6sx set and i love it. Mesh head sets start at around 2000 now, its a very good option, but i do agree, the 'cymbalism' does kind of suck at times. I have housemates that would flip **** if i practiced real drums at the hours i do so these wil work for now. When i get decent and get my own place ill definitely go acoustic though. Like I said, if you have the means, go acoustic but e-drum technology is pretty good now.

I play drums as well - I am ok i guess. I've been playing for 2 years now, but i only took lessons for about 6 months, so i dont have a lot of special technique

I bought a pulse drumset awhile back, it came with everything, 3 cymbols, a 5 set drum set for like 450 or something. Its a good beginner set, but I played a really expensive drumset and I swear I was better, it just sounds so much nicer. I dunno, someday ill get one, but for now all my money goes into my car
