And I driven one just so I can officially knock it and it never felt THAT torquey...If you floor it you get a very momentary brief surge from the batteries but than you are back to using the petrol engine pretty much right way. If you drive the car like it was meant to be, accelerate super slow to take full advantage of the electric motor, it feels no different that a very quiet super slow economy car. I think if you floor it to try and get advantage of all the combined torque, you still get to 60 in 12 seconds on so...

I cannot tell you how many times I have been overtaken or out-accelerated by the Prius because I am trying to stay below boost feathering my throttle and they are thinking they will still get 40-50 mpg flooring it.

I used to own one. For the first 1 second after you floor it, yeah, its pretty torquey.

after that, yeah, its slow.

Yeah im not saying that the car is torquey in the least I am just saying that electric motors have the characteristic of having high torque at low motor speeds

i notice prius owners drive really fast compared to the flow of traffic. does anyone else notice this or it's something only in SF?

It must be only in SF cause around here they are the ones that I want to DIAF. They are the ones that can't drive for poop, and impead the flow of traffic.

There is a carbon fiber prius here at work or so I am told. I know there is one in Saratoga. And there are a bunch of mods out there for them. There are a few that compete in some races.

True!^^^

I have nothing against hybrids......just hate a Prius.

Although I would take a small turbo diesel over a hybrid any day.

I don't mind the car it is the drivers of them that I want to punch in the ovaries. Ok, well not all of them but the vast majority of them. One tried to change lanes without looking today and it wanted the space I was already occupying and it got pissed at me, when I was there in between the same two cars for 10 minutes before that...

thats because electric motors have 100% torque from 0 RPM. thats why they use them on trains

How long did it take you to reach that speed and how scary was that ride?

Yeah, I noticed that as well as I said earlier. I think the problem is that majority of them have no clue how a hybrid actually works and how is must be driven to get the best mileage. Go to LA area, its even worst there cause 99.9% of owners drive one as a social image rather than any care for gas mileage or environment

I actually remember seeing a Prius with limo tint, lowering springs, Enkie Rpf1 rims and red painted calipers
