anyone owns a prius?

i was reading the specs on the prius and just find out that the prius's electric motor has 295-lb-ft torque????!!!

plus the gas motor's 82 lb total is 370TQ???? i only drove the prius one time and i don't remember how was it like. i didnt really floor the car, but sounds like a lot of power.

so those of you who has a prius do you feel like there are 300lb of torque under that hood???

I've heard that you can Pre-charge the "speed controller" to give you some pretty impressive acceleration off the line....but it quickly dies down, since the batteries can't sustain that kind of draw over a long period of time.

Is that why all these pretentious pillow biting jackasses drive like 40mph on the highway because they're afraid of getting whiplash with all the tq??

I wonder if anyone has modified a prius for performance rather than gas milage? haha

Only mods I can find are to increase gas milage: http://auto.howstuffworks.com/100-mpg-news.htm

Yeah electric motors generate large amounts of torque at low speeds

90 mph IS its top speed...it might have 300+ combined tq when driving slowly in stop and go city traffic but any other time its a pig of a car (relative to the petrol engine size). On the highway, you will be lucky to get 37 mpg cause its electric engine is useless and the car has to rely on its anemic 1.5 Lt engine to haul this car around having only 85 tq on tap.

I had a co-worker back in Chicago who has been able to get better mileage from TDI Golf with a manual than his wife with a Prius. Guess why? Cause the she refuses (just like the rest of Prius owners) to accelerate 0-60 in like 30 seconds feathering the engine trying to go on the electric motor alone (and taking just as long to stop to recharge the batteries)...and the Golf cost him half as much as the Prius.
