Anyone own/owned a Dually Truck before?

Yeah thats what i was thinking, i see many single wheel trucks haulin big stuff, The only time you see a dually is with a huge horse trailer full of tons of horses, or a huge fifthwheel trailer.
If you dont think you need duals then id rather have a normal wheeled truck myself. It can probly haul more than you think.

+1. I can't agree any more with that statement. Up in Idaho duallys are called "sleds." You really don't have nearly as much traction as with a conventional pickup, especially if you're going to do some snow driving. You can get the Ram in the 3500 (1 ton) without buying the dually part of it. And it does just as well, if not better, until you start pulling humongous loads, like massive 5th wheels.
And another +1 on the Cummins, in general. We know several people in Idaho that have over 1,000,000 miles on their engines, and still going strong. I kid you not. Their truck bodies and interiors are falling apart before their engines do.
We own a 2004.5 Ram 2500 Heavy Duty 4x4 with the High Output Cummins. Couldn't be any happier. We're gonna put a (Banks, Bulldog, etc) control module on there for fun, sooner or later. Not that the extra power is needed or anything. As stated above, there's 610lb/ft of torque, and it comes on at about 1100RPM's. We tow moderate loads all the time, anything from cars to utility trailers stacked high. And not once has the truck hesitated or felt like it was even under load, even up steep grades. It's hard to tell your even towing anything. We also have the automatic and have not had any problems, although there was a recall. But we only have 40,000 miles on it, so the motor isn't even broken in yet.

Good choice on the Cummins, you can't go wrong.

And yeah on the Dually.... if you're not going to be pulling heavy, it's just a PITA the rest of the time. Ours is not a dually and it pulls our 5th wheel trailer very nicely, though it's only 29ft. But I've got friends with up to 40ft and still no dually and they do just fine.
Dually gives you more load carrying capacity, and more stability pulling big trailers. If you don't need it, get single rear wheels.
