thats a rip off, I wouldnt pay more then $8K for a salvaged WRX

u can get one w/ a clean title for like $15K....not worth the hassle of owning a salvage title car

Well what type of salvage?

If the car was broken into and the wheels were stolen... is much different than if the car was t-boned and had some major damage to the whole car.

If you notice, the WHOLE front bumper has been repainted, incluing the parts that cover the radiator brackets/supports, so I'd bet money that thing has been in a decent front end collision.

This is true to an extent. I bought my previous car with a salvage title due to a theft recovery, and wound up getting a fantastic deal. Mechanically, the car was nearly perfect and had no problems (except for the usual wear and tear items) in the 50,000 miles I owned it. However, the salvage title made the car an absolute pain to sell one I got my Subaru. I wouldn't get a salvage title again because of this hassle.

Also, let your friend know that if he buys a salvaged vehicle he will have to go through the process of having the CHP inspect the car to make sure that it is roadworthy...the DMV won't register the car without the CHP's stamp of approval.

You can find decent clean title WRX's for $14,000-$17,000. I got my '03 wagon with 11,200 miles on it for $16,000 even.
