Try rotella t6...I used to use royal purple as well but t6 does just as well, maybe even better in a lot of subies...
Its about 25$ for a 4 qt jug then like 6-8$ for another single quart at walmart...
Oh I've got an extra quart of 5w30 royal purple if you want it

I use to use it in my beater car and I never liked it, I used that Rotella T6 and worked better. I use Motul, you should try it. If Royal Purple works then I would keep using it. I thought your car was blown up?
although op has already got what he wanted...
running the rotella t6 increased my mpg and the oil analysis said it would be fine to run 10,000 miles. i burn 0 oil @ 98k miles with it. it is ~$21 for 4 quart jug at walmart and they have the single quart bottles as well for ~$6 (i usually buy 2 jugs and just rotate for the next oil change).

royal purple really sux.its all marketing scam. just like hybrids. burns off way to quick. went through a full quart in between oil changes. car takes awhile to warm up. i dont even drive the car that often maybe 5-6k a yr. i also change my oil oil about every 3500. been using M1 and it has been great. not burning as much oil and my car seems to like it alot better than any other oil that ive used Chevron,Royal Purple,M1 ETC.

For the record, I use Amsoil based on some research I did when I was in the business (and the fact you can save some $ buying 1 Gallon jugs). Redline is a fine product as well.
Goodies Speed Shop on Lincoln Ave (near San Carlos) keeps all three in stock
