I am a bay area installer who specializes in Impreza's and Evo's. I have 5 years experience and own a wrx myself. I can take care of you guys really good just ask Gino at Gb motorsports, I do work for him. If you are interested, I own a small business called M&M Audio. Its a mobile installation service but we also have several accounts with major manufacturers. Please email me at Gmannino@MMmobileworks.com

installing it yourself in the driveway or garage is the cheapest.

I manage Cartunes in Santa Rosa. I can give you a base quote for what you have now.

Components installed with existing OEM speaker wire $65.00 set
Install with new wire you supply will be about $25 more
4 channel amp install with your supplied wire $65
Rear coaxial speakers install $45
Shop charge $9.99
Deck in dash is $45 plus harness @ $15. No kit required if you have a pocket already. If not, the pocket is about 10-15 bucks.

True, installing your own equipment is cheaper. That's a no brainer. But, if you think about it, what is your day off worth? If you break a part on your car, it's on you. If my shop breaks a part, it's on us. Trust me, those little trim rings around the door open lever are a HUGE pain in the but to get off. But if you want to hook up, give us a call.

If your the same guy on NASIOC I replied over there. If not I may be able to help. I installed for 5 years at the Good Guys and am wiilling to travel if you have a place to do the work (your driveway). I'v got all the tools and I charge roughly half of what shops charge. PM me.

but shops like that Circuit City Best buy etc are not professionals, or rather they dont specialize. its safer to go to a Car Audio store. my friends have all had problems with their instals from places like that.

That is very true, Circuit and Best buy hire installers with no expirence. Good guys although hires installers with at least 1 year experience and must be 21 to work there. I worked at Good guys for 2 year, but have 5 years experience. If you do go to retail i'de go to good guys. But if you want someone who specializes in subaru, go with people who are recommended by vendors or people in the trade. I do work for GBmotorsports and they are a official vendor for iclub. If you are interested in seeing my work or a quote please email me.

Thanks for the plug Adam.

Seriously though... EVERY shop, has and always will, make mistakes. I have been doing car audio for over 19 years now and I have seen it all. Trust me when I tell ya. Although most installers and shop owners are great people, and know thier stuff, a lot of them have HUGE egos and are legends in thier own minds. Each and every installer/shop has a certain way things are done. A good shop will do an average job and you will get the service you deserve and it wont kill your wallet. The shops that claim "we only do custom work" will give you an above average job, if not steller, but at an inflated price for both goods and labor. Parts is parts and labor is labor. The more a person spends time on a job, the better it can be done. In this business, time is money when it comes down to shop labor.

As for the big box stores... It is true, that the mass merchants pick up installers as trainees, and that's not such a bad thing. They don't tend to use old habits and wont intentionaly cut a corner. They can only be as good as the person training them. The price for experience is always higher. Hence you get what you pay for. So, remeber that when you decide what shop to get your audio products installed at. My offer still stands and I will be happy and always will be happy to offer a fellow i-clubber my services. Good luck with your choice.
