Anyone know about electric dog fencing

In light of the puppy thread here goes. My husky really gets agitated that she can't roam free in the yard anymore. She escaped and I can't figure out where, the fence isn't greatest condition. Scared to leave her while im 50+ miles away at work.

Does anybody know how I should go about getting an electric fence? the yard is huge!

IIRC a few years back i saw a system that used some extra high frequecy to determine where the barrier is, and you buried it in the yard to make an invisible fence. are you asking about something like that?

yeah I just don't know where to get something good/ who to install it? And I want to make sure my husky can't dig under or jump over or anything. Just anyone who has experience installing/getting one purchased/installed I could really use some help.

My neighbor has one of those shock collars for his dog, he installed the wired piece under the ground and the dog I think tried to go pass the enclosed area once and only once.

Funny thing is when he installed it he was worried about how it works and how hard the zap was so his friend armed with an ingested 6 pack put the collar on and crawled over the line, I am looking for the video as we video'd it and it was hilarious basically it put the guy down.

You have to do some training with it. You can't just throw it in the yard and expect your dog to know it is buried there. Typically, the kits come with little flags you throw down along the line. You walk your dog up to the line and show it what's what. They learn VERY fast.

BTW, they work GREAT... with the proper training.

It is easy to install yourself.

Yeah, i'd definitely be willing to do that. It's just so unknown how she'd react due to her crazy nature. Crate training I did a bit of when she was a pup, she liked the crate and would go in it. Then I switched her to sleeping on my bed once I felt she was old enough not to *** with me. Unfortunately when she is off leash or feeling whily she has a mind of her own. The other crap I can deal with, but having her escape is not one of them. One time she booked, i got her almost 2 miles away from my house luckily she didn't take the road.

I have a friend who had an electric fence for his great dane. This system happened to shock progressively stronger the closer the dog got to the fence(flags). What his dog would do is lay down at the border of the area(were the shock was mild) and wait for the battery in the collar to drain. Once the battery was drained, he was FREE to **** with the neighborhood *****es!
Dogs are pretty smart if they want to be.
