Unless you find someone selling "fell-off-the-truck" ones
, your best bet is to get Apple Certified Rerurbished Macbook OR get $100 off from Apple Education Store.
I'd personally just get the regular MacBook for the price.

Yeah, is there a reason you're looking at the air instead of the pro or regular? Also, what are you going to school for?

... apple education discount is decent. wish i still had it. check craigslist for used ones. good stuff pops up all the time.
if you see something on here you like i'm a member and can maybe help you out. http://www.franklabs.com/igs/

Since youre a student use the discount. That student discount is better than anything most people can get.
And also, just go with the plain ole macbook. Not that much of a difference between it and the pro except for money.

hahaha the ol' five finger discounted price
well i was interested in the air simply because it's alot lighter and easier to carry, i use to own a big Dell inspiron and that was a PITA to drag around campus. Im studying Business Management, trying to get done this year but budget cuts might not allow that to happen
cool thanks for the heads up ill check it out and see

MacBook w/ education discount: $899
MacBook Air w/ education discount: $1399
Plus, if you want to be able to install new software via CD/DVD's or load music via CD's, or watch movies via DVD's (I think you get the point) on the MacBook Air you need the $100 disc drive.

it makes good business sense to not get the air. no need for the air. at all. i have the equivalent of the white one (the flatblack macbook) and have never found it to be extraordinarily heavy. if anything go with a unibody mbp. there's no need to pay the premium on the air unless you're a starbucks hipster or you have too much bloody money.

Do yourself a favor and get the Macbook Pro instead of the Air. I have the Air and don't like it at all. It's flimsy and the battery life sucks. The only thing it has going for it, is the light weight and thinness.
