Anyone have experience with Yokohama A038 tires?
I recently picked up a set of 195/50-15 Yokohama A038 tires that I will be using when I go to Sears Point on 8/22. Does anyone have experience with these tires? I have used A008's and A032's in the past, but don't know what to expect from these A038's. I am not even sure what compound they are. On the spot where it is supposed to notate S (medium soft) or SS (very soft), it has the notation HHT. What the heck is that? Any information would be helpful. Thanks.

"Lotus have recently launched a Yokohama tyre which has been jointly developed for road and track use. It is a heavy cut slick tyre and it looks excellent and provides excellent grip in the dry when the optimal temperature is reached. Wet weather performance is debatable and these are not generally recommended for every day road use since it is hard to get them up to temperature. They are a great tyre for track days, where you need to drive to the track though"
If they are anything like the A032-R's they are a pretty good track tire, not as grippy as Toyo RA1's but seem to last just as long. Not a hoosier-level r-compound by any means though.

They are going on my CRX. A friend brought the tires back from Hong Kong, hoping to use them on his Civic. He just sold his car, so I picked up the tires from him. I hope they drive better then the A032's. The A032's tread blocks tended to shift/twist under hard load. However, the A032's were great as an all-around weekend track tire. I could drive them to the track; I could drive them in wet track conditions; and they last forever. I attached a pic of how the A038's look like. Thanks for looking up the info.
