Anyone have experience installing springs?
Hey, I need to install some springs on my 05 WRX and I don't really have the cash to take it to a shop and pay over $120-130. I was wondering if anyone maybe had air tools and experience and might be able to help me out. I am willing to pay, but I mean nothing too crazy. Please let me know, the sooner the better. I am free tomorrow, this weekend, and I have spring break over the whole next week so I'm not really going to be too busy. Please message me or reply. Thanks in Advance!

there are many how-tos on this. It is SUPER easy. for the amount you're offering, go to harbor freight, but the chicago 1/2" drive electric impact gun for $37, 1/2" drive impact sockets for $20, and a 2.25-TON floor jack for $50, a set of 3 ton jack stands dor $13, 9 piece metric wrenches for $7, and an extra 17mm wrench.
here is a google search result how-to:

Skip the alan wrench part for cracking the tophat nut since you have an impact gun that makes the job cake.
No spring compressor is needed. here is an old school DPT video showing how its done: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ORIwnziIrFQ

Thanks a lot for the help mattsn0w, but what I meant was I don't want to pay anywhere near $120-130 for springs. I also have no experience and don't want to mess something up.
If someone has tools and experience, and can help me out, that would be awesome.

Oh, Tanabe DF210's. They have a nice drop, a little higher than s-techs. But lower than GF210's.
Thanks a lot Jon, I will try to reach you tomorrow about your friends house and if you still need the ramps, let me know.
Thanks for the all the help guys. But if there is someone else willing to help with air tools let me know since I want to do these asap. Thanks In Advance guys!

It really isn't that bad. Just do what we did and call an install fest. Buy some pizza and beer and people will help you out. Big +1 on air tools or an impact wrench.
Auto Innovations is a good way to go, too. Keep in mind you'll have to pay for an alignment at some point as well.

Yeh, I understand allignment is $50-70, but $180 is very steep, that how much the springs are. Also, I'm down to do the "install fest" and get food...but no beer, I'm only 18. LOL

Let me think what you'll need.
You'll need to borrow an impact wrench and impact sockets. You can borrow a spring compressor from Kragen or something. You'll need 2 breaker bars, two 17mm sockets, a socket set, a torque wrench that goes up to 150 ft-lbs. Jack and jack stands are always nice. There are a few other misc. stuff also, but I think per a corner, it is 6 bolts or something.
2 on the hub to shock part, torqued to 130 ft-lbs or something, maybe 150. 3 on the top hat which is like 20 or 30 ft-lbs., and the nut on top of the top hat. Oh... don't forget the 2 that hold the brakelines to the strut assembly. So.. 8 total. Yeah...
First time is always the hardest. Once you do it once, it is cake afterwards.

Awesome! Thanks for the help! I did the UP/DP/CBE with my friend and it was BRUTAL! But now it would be easy since the bolts aren't stuck and we know what to do, so I assume this is exactly the same. I'll read up on the installations and hope for the best!

Those are easy, and can be done in two hours. Just did Swift springs on a Forester last weekend. I have all the tools including the torque wrench, air tools, and all the experience you'd need.
